Life Cycle Assessment LCA is the only standardized method to evaluate the environmental footprint of a whole supply chain. Energy consumption and GreenHouse Gas (CO 2 ) emissions are key factors in determining environmental footprint. 6 CO 2 Biodegradation of product results in no net CO 2 increase Cradle-to-gate Raw Materials Energy Recycle Raw Material Acquisition Transportation Manufacturing Transportation Use/Reuse/ Maintenance Waste Management Co-products Air Emissions Waterborne Wastes Solid Wastes Cradle-to-grave

Susterra Life Cycle Assessment* Comparison From cradle-to-gate, the production of Susterra consumes 38% less energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 42% versus petroleum-based propylene glycol. 7

Applications 11 INTERCOOL BIOGREEN can be used in a variety of applications where stability over a range of temperatures is important. Stationary Diesel Engines HVAC Systems Ice Rinks Geothermal Systems Solar Systems Heat Recovery Systems Ice Storage Systems Snow Melt Systems Drilling Equipment Vapor Recovery System Natural Gas Well-Head Heaters Interstate Chemical INTERSTATE CHEMICAL Co. CO. Inc. INC.

Benefits 12 INTERCOOL BIOGREEN provides performance advantages versus conventional fluids and it is 100% bio-based. Improved viscosity at lower temperatures Less pumping pressure at lower temperatures Similar freeze points for aqueous solutions Higher boiling point than ethylene glycol based fluids Comparable efficiency of ethylene glycol, with toxicity comparable to propylene glycol Less thermal degradation compared to conventional glycols 100% bio-based (carbon weight) Interstate Chemical INTERSTATE CHEMICAL Co. CO. Inc. INC.

Case Study: INTERCOOL BIOGREEN 14 Walmart Burlington, Ont. STANTEC CONSULTING: This giant retail store in southern Ontario uses an innovative geothermal system that was installed in a very short time. Stantec designed a large geothermal heating and cooling system for Walmart Canada's 135,000-square-foot green prototype supercentre in Burlington, Ontario. The project used other innovative cost-saving technologies as well. Harvesting Heat From Store Refrigerator Cases Stantec worked with the refrigeration equipment engineer to design a system that harnesses the heat rejected from refrigerator cases and uses it for the hydronic heating system in the store during the cold months. During the warm months, the rejected heat is stored in the geo-exchange field. The CO2-based refrigeration systems use a non-traditional heat transfer fluid, which is 90% more environmentally friendly than conventional refrigerants. Bio-Green 1,3-Propanediol (25 mixture) has improved environmental and heat transfer properties compared to propylene glycol.
