NEW PLANNER Laura Waterman joined the Mitigation Planning Team in August! She earned her Masters degree in Disaster and Emergency Preparedness from Nova Southeastern University in 2015. Even though Laura recently moved to the Tallahassee area from Michigan, she already feels at home in the Mitigation Bureau at FDEM and she is excited to get to know emergency management professionals around the state!

ESTABLISH COMMITTEES Planning and Maintenance Committee This committee will document our SHMPAT Meetings by providing sign in sheets and taking minutes. They will also be responsible for developing a new method for tracking the Mitigation Projects Strategy Committee The Strategy Committee will review our goals and objectives and make changes if necessary. They will assist in the updating of several other aspects of the SHMP including prioritizing mitigation actions, program and capability updates, and analyzing the LMS program. Risk Assessment Committee The HIRA Committee will be responsible for updating the Risk Assessment section of the SHMP, including vulnerability of state assets and jurisdictions, as well as documenting changes in development.

ESTABLISH COMMITTEES Enhanced Plan Task Force This Task Force will work to ensure the SHMP aligns with the FEMA Standards for an Enhanced Plan, including updating funding and prioritization criteria and verifying comprehensive planning and commitment to the mitigation program. Severe Repetitive Loss (SRL) Task Force This Task Force will work to ensure that RL/SRL topics are updated and addressed throughout the plan, as required by the standards. Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP) Task Force This Task Force will work to ensure that the entire plan is aligned with and meets the requirements of EMAP.

MITIGATION PROJECTS Please submit any mitigation projects you are working on or that you have completed to dem-shmpat@em.myflorida.com For each project, please submit: Name of Project Brief description Start Date Status Update (or date completed) Name AND Contact Info of Project Manager and/or Contact Person for Project We need this information to update the list of mitigation actions across the state and to demonstrate successful mitigation actions and progress towards a more resilient state.
