Autumn Conference 17-19 September 2014 Le Collectionneur-Arc-de-Triomphe Paris

Slide 1 Autumn Conference 17-19 September 2014 Le Collectionneur-Arc-de-Triomphe Paris Slide 2 Three principal business lines: 1. Reservoir Description 2. 3. Reservoir Management Slide 3 Core Lab s operational focus remains on crude oilfield development projects, with growing emphasis on delivering technology to our clients to assist in their efforts to maximize the return from their unconventional, conventional, onshore and offshore developments. 2

Slide 4 Presentation Walk-away Points: The Decline Curve Will Always Win Core s Differentiating Technologies Core s Industry Leading Shareholder Returns Slide 5 Our services and products focus on maximizing production rates and ultimate reserves to maximize our clients return on their investments. Slide 6 Primary Business Drivers 1. Reservoir Description: Laboratory-based Services with International & Oil Focus 2. : Products and Services for Wellbore Completions 2/3 North America & 1/3 International 3. Reservoir Management: Global Focus 3

Slide 7 Core Lab targets the more stable, less volatile, production and production enhancement component of the oil companies budget. Slide 8 The Decline Curve Core Lab provides services through its three operating segments at points all along the decline curve: Reservoir Description Reservoir Management Slide 9 Reservoir Description Our first business unit Reservoir Description analyzes actual reservoir rocks and fluids to provide data sets that accurately characterize the reservoir. These precise measurements create the base truth from which to build the field s reservoir optimization model. These measurements are invaluable in order to determine probable versus proven reserves in-place. 4

Slide 10 Reservoir Description Leaders in rock property analysis from the traditional perspective to Slide 11 Reservoir Description the most advanced. Slide 12 Reservoir Description Leaders in reservoir fluid analysis Analyses of reservoir fluid properties are gaining in importance as the fluids (e.g. oil and gas) are indeed the economic driver in the reservoir. 5

Slide 13 Reservoir Description The value of crude oil is directly related to the amount of gasoline that can be refined from the particular crude oil being produced. Our clients want to know the characteristics of their crude oil to better assess the economics that can be obtained from the crude oil and its derived products. Slide 14 Reservoir Description Fluids analysis range from traditional methods used to derive the basic characteristics of fluid, to the more advance fluids testing using medical imaging CT scanners (shown here), to perform enhanced oil recovery tests ( EOR ) at reservoir temperatures and pressure. Furthermore Slide 15 Reservoir Description the CT scanners can be used to produce 4D-time lapsed fluid analysis, showing the fluids moving through the reservoir rock and natural gas (depicted in red) displacing the oil (depicted in green) over time. 6

Slide 16 Our next business unit provides products and services designed to minimize formation damage and maximize production flow rates. The Goal - optimizing reservoir value. Following are some of the most recent applications of our services and products aimed at enhancing production from long-reach horizontal well bores being drilled to exploit unconventional reservoirs. Slide 17 KODIAK Enhanced Perforating System The KODIAK Enhanced Perforating System combines perforating and well stimulation in one operation. The system integrates specifically designed perforating charges with a new energetic material. In stage one of the event, the detonation of the perforating charges cut the perforating tunnel and also initiates stage two, a complex, sequentially burning reaction of the energetic material (i.e. solid rocket fuel ) generating a high pressure gas pulse. Slide 18 KODIAK Enhanced Perforating System Stage one: the HERO, SuperHERO or HERO-HR perforation charges are detonated, creating the deepest perforation tunnel in the world and at some 30,000 feet per second. 7

Slide 19 Mini fractures KODIAK Enhanced Perforating System Stage Two: the perforation charge initiates the second charge of energetic material ( solid rocket fuel ) which creates a high pressure pulse of gas causing minifractures in the perforating tunnel and when the high pressure pules of gas exits the perforating tunnel it clears any remaining debris. Slide 20 KODIAK Enhanced Perforating System The end result after the KODIAK Enhanced Perforating System shown here. These mini-fractures created in the perforation tunnels reduce the formation break-down pressure needed to perform the pressure pumping/hydraulic fracture of the reservoir rock, thereby saving the operator cost to complete and stimulate the well. Additionally, the deeper and cleaner perforation tunnel will also improve the flow and recovery of hydrocarbons from the reservoir. Slide 21 FLOWPROFILER and well completion diagnostics FlowProfiler is the industry's first comprehensive after frac flow profile technology that simultaneously evaluates both frac fluid clean-up and hydrocarbon production over time. Designed for multiple stage completions in both vertical and horizontal well applications, providing critical information such as: Simultaneous Zonal Flowback; Frac Fluid Clean-up; Hydrocarbon Contribution and Production Log Analysis Indexing hydrocarbon production to geologic horizons Evaluating Production Over Time Well Spacing Issues such as Frac and Production interference with Offset Wells. Shown here is a log of the production flow from the well by stage, giving the customer a visual of the well s stage by stage contribution of both hydrocarbon fluids and water. 8

Slide 22 FLOWPROFILER and well completion diagnostics Shown here, FlowProfiler has been combined with SPECTRACHEM (frac fluid flowback), with ZeroWash (the placement of completion proppants). FlowProfiler technology is being combined with Core s other diagnostic services to provide a comprehensive understanding of the completion and to identify opportunities to increase hydrocarbon production and ultimate recovery. Core Laboratories is the only tracing and imaging company that provides essential direct measurements of: Fracture height Zonal coverage Proppant distribution Wellbore connectivity Fracture fluid performance Slide 23 FLOWPROFILER FlowProfiler technology employs a specific, unique oilsoluble tracer, or combination of unique oil-soluble tracers, introduced into specific and isolated stages via the stimulating proppant stream. Slide 24 FLOWPROFILER The unique oil-soluble tracers are absorbed by the crude oil associated with each stage. 9

Slide 25 FLOWPROFILER When the well is flowed, crude oil samples are collected and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry to identify and quantify flow from each stage. Stages not flowing optimally can be identified, precipitating remedial efforts and providing valuable insights for future wells. The combined knowledge of both the zonal water and oil profiles provide unique data sets to accurately understand the total after frac flow profile for evaluating individual well production and making critical next well decisions. Slide 26 FLOWPROFILER FlowProfiler diagnostic tracers are also being used to identify communication between frac stages from the treatment well to surrounding offset wells, enabling the operator to make informed decisions on lateral spacing and, of increasing importance, on the vertical spacing of horizontal wells. Slide 27 Reservoir Management Our third unit Reservoir Management focuses on leveraging the knowledge gained from the data sets we created in our Reservoir Description unit along with our projects to solve reservoir-wide issues which a client may have. Our integrated approach is designed to help clients solve wide ranging production problems they may be incurring. 10

Slide 28 Reservoir Management Internationally, Reservoir Management continued to focus on West and East Africa development projects. Regional petroleum systems studies are being performed in cooperation with national oil and gas ministries in Cote d Ivoire, Senegal, Tanzania and Mozambique. Slide 29 Reservoir Management These Pre-Salt Angola Deepwater studies are directed toward providing data sets consisting of biostratigraphy, geology, reservoir quality, petrophysical properties, and seal evaluation with ties to seismic data sets for companies exploiting these deepwater provinces. Slide 30 The Horizontal Reservoir Management This study proposes to integrate previously evaluated well log and rock data with a comprehensive suite of newly acquired log, cuttings and key core material. This extension to our Pre-Salt, West African Margin Study, will provide a detailed and fully integrated regional assessment of the sedimentological and diagenetic characteristics of Pre-Salt carbonates and will also evaluate the complex relationship between tectonic and igneous activity and sedimentation patterns within the syn-rift basins from this region. 11

Slide 31 Our operating margins have continued to expand as we have been able to develop new technologies - which we then strive to offer our clients throughout our existing international platform. These three growth strategies have been essential ingredients to our improving performance. Slide 32 Global distribution system; 70 offices in 50 countries. 12
