GUILFORD COUNTY SCHOOLS JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE:ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER-FURNITURE & GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB Under limited supervision, manages the selection, shipment, delivery, and installation of furniture and equipment at school construction projects, and coordinates the move-in and occupancy of the facility. Work also involves developing and maintaining furniture and equipment standards, developing criteria for evaluating new furniture and equipment for compliance with specifications, and developing criteria and procedures for evaluating and replacing furniture. Reports to the Executive Director-Facilities & Construction Management. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES Coordinates the selection, shipment, delivery and installation of furniture and equipment at school construction projects. Coordinates and participates in the development of specifications, estimates, bid documents, and purchase order requests for furniture and equipment needed for renovations and new construction. Plans, organizes, and coordinates activities of designated project to ensure occupancy progresses on schedule. Develops and maintains furniture and equipment standards. Develops and maintains a database and computerized system for estimating, specifying and ordering furniture and equipment. Develops criteria for evaluating new furniture and equipment products for compliance with specifications. Develops criteria and procedures for evaluating and replacing furniture. Assists Project Manager in coordinating final activities of contractors, owner and code authorities prior to occupancy of new and renovated facilities. Maintains library of product literature for furniture and equipment. Responsible for coordinating training sessions on use and maintenance of equipment installed at new construction sites. Directs workers engaged in moving furniture and equipment and preparing facilities for occupancy. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities that the Executive Director may assign. Performs various clerical activities. Performs other related work as required. ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Associate's degree in business administration, planning, accounting, or a related field, with a Bachelor's degree preferred, and 3 to 5 years of experience in purchasing furniture and equipment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines including computers, typewriters, calculators, printers, copiers, etc. Must be able to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
