Optimising your EAF and Offgas System Tools & Equipment

BSE Energy Input Solutions Maximise your output with efficient input! NEW DESIGN! Exclusively available at BSE Optimising the electrical energy and adding chemical energy are major steps for maximum efficiency in EAF steel production. The energy input concept by BSE represents a system family of sidewall and slag door input devices for chemical energy, current conducting electrode arms, hard- and software for measurement, control and analysis plus decades of experience in EAF steel production. A winning combination that can help you to get the maximum performance out of your EAF and turn cold spots into hot production figures. Virtual Lance Burner (VLB) Side wall and EBT mounted device for oxygen injection. Fuel is either gas or oil. Virtual Lance Injector (VLI) VLB-type device achieving the shrouding effect without gas (only applicable for special furnace operations, e.g. hot metal). Solid Material Injector Side wall and EBT mounted device for injection of solid materials like carbon, lime and fines. Lance Manipulator In addition to the wall mounted devices, BSE has pioneered ed the slag door lancing technology ogy with highly efficient consumable lances. Tiltable VLB with vertical tilting motion providing different injection ion angles to meet various process requirements. Electrode Arms The current conducting electrode arms increase active power input, furnace availability and overall productivity. Control & Visualisation PLC based automation with integrated TopArc function (closed loop control of carbon and oxygen) and operatororiented visualisation. Media Supply Technology Advanced valve rack technology for oxygen/gas featuring individual control for each line and additional safety features. Training and Services at Customer Process optimisation by BSE experts, utilising the know-how of own steelplant operation and experience of customer installations worldwide. Advantages. Highest possible energy transfer into scrap and steel. Improved and continuous slag generation. Faster decarburisation and less oxygen consumption. Consistency from heat to heat. Compatibility with various input materials, operation types and steel grades. Complete system solutions, tailor-made to the customers individual EAF situation. Design based on own operational experience for highest efficiency and easy maintenance. Extremely rugged construction ensuring operation with an availability of nearly 100 %. Optimal foamy slag one of the results of effective carbon injection. Smart visualisation for quick access to each component of the system and control of total energy input. 2 3

BSE Offgas System Solutions Clean and efficient! Backed by the long standing know-how based on our own steel production, BSE provides analysing tools, engineering and key components for complete offgas systems that improve productivity and cost efficiency along with strict compliance with environmental legislations. Fluid Dynamic Model (FDM) Simulation of all heat and dust sources influencing the building ventilation by using a scaled Plexiglas replica of the melt shop. The FDM, provided and performed by our subsidiary Bender Corporation, is an easy, accurate and economical tool to understand and improve the inside shop conditions. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Investigation with the aid of computer modelling to look into details of critical items and optimisation of mixing and distribution, pressure drop and local exhaust hoods. The Computational Fluid Dynamic guarantees a smooth enginee-neering process and highest per- formance of the designed dedusting systems. Efficient Dedusting Control (EDC) Smart control and visualisation ation of the entire offgas system. The EDC collects realtime mation of all key components, infor- High Temperature Quenching (HTQ) Rapid offgas cooling from direct furnace evacuation by injection of atomised water preventing de-novo synthesis of dioxin/ furan. HTQ system consisting of a water spray chamber, a set of spray lances and a valve rack regulating the water amount according to process requirements. Advantages. Improved dedusting efficiency in Am³/kWh. Reduction of specific dedusting costs in Cost/Am³. Less dust deposit in the ducts. Better bag house utilisation by reduced and stable temperature. Simplification of emission control. HTQ as an economical solution for dioxin/furan reduction. Lower pressure drop in the DEC duct. Most economic analysing tools for improvement of building ventilation with FDM and optimisation of component details with CFD. Atomised water injected into water spray chamber by multiple spray lances analyses it and anticipates accordingly. HTQ valve rack with intelligent regulation of water flow ensuring a constant offgas outlet temperature and protection of the bag house against peak temperatures. 4 5
