Expand your business Call the gateway to Scandinavia

Welcome to Scandinavia s largest port 365/24/7 The Port of Gothenburg is open to vessels and cargo transport every single day of the year, 24 hours every day. The Port of Gothenburg is Scandinavia s only port with direct routes the world over. Every day we see vessels arrive with goods from all over the world, and vessels leaving our quays with Swedish products on their way to major markets. For almost 400 years we have been the hub for Sweden s international trade and served as the natural gateway to the world for Swedish imports and exports. Today we offer our customers the entire world, every single day. Fast, secure and cost-effective. As Scandinavia s largest port, the Port of Gothenburg has the capacity and volumes to both receive and attract the largest container vessels. The port is favourably located on Sweden s west coast, just 90 minutes from open sea to berth. Almost all Swedish exports are transported by sea. Almost 30 per cent of exported goods pass via the quays at the Port of Gothenburg, which also handles more than half of the country s total container trade. This makes us Scandinavia s foremost cargo hub today. 2 3

The whole world every day With our global range of routes the world immediately becomes that little bit smaller. We have more than 130 direct routes to major destinations, for instance in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and North America. In addition, we have frequent departures from the major transshipment hubs on the Continent, and daily routes from several major European ports. Every week the Port of Gothenburg has about 70 ro-ro departures and almost 20 container vessel departures. As a result, you can reach the Port of Gothenburg rapidly, reliably and cost-effectively all year round. For an up-to-date route map visit www.portofgothenburg.com/linerservices Every day from Europe s largest ports The Port of Gothenburg receives daily traffic from the largest European ports. You can reach us quickly and easily from vital regions primarily in Scandinavia, the Baltics, Germany, Britain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Russia, Poland, Portugal and Spain. 20,000 TEU THE LARGEST VESSELS BERTHING IN THE PORT OF GOTHENBURG CAN CARRY 20,000 CONTAINERS. EXPORTS 30% 50/50 Almost 30 per cent of Sweden s total foreign trade passes through the Port of Gothenburg. Imports consist primarily of consumables such as clothes, furniture, food and electronics. Exports consist largely of steel, vehicles and forestry products such as paper, paper pulp and wood-based goods. IMPORTS The balance between imports and exports in the Port of Gothenburg is very even 50/50. This is a benefit for shipping companies which can load fresh cargoes after unloading. In this way they can avoid sailing empty, thus saving both money and the environment. Less CO2 Every day, the rail shuttles in Railport Scandinavia replace 700 trucks, drastically reducing CO2 and other emissions. 7

TERMINALS AND SERVICES FOR ALL NEEDS We handle all types of cargo. We have terminals and operators specialising in different areas so as to offer the best possible service, round the clock, every day of the year. This includes everything from storage, preparation and transshipment, to unloading and loading, passenger traffic and the handling of energy products. Energy products The Energy Port in the Port of Gothenburg is Sweden s largest energy port, consisting of three different ports featuring a total of 24 quays. Every year about 2500 tankers arrive and the port handles almost 24 million tonnes of crude oil, petrol, diesel and other energy products. Here too is Sweden s by far largest depot operation as well as immense storage facilities. A number of services are available in the maritime sector such as bunkering, recycling and refuse handling. Three refineries are located close by. REFINERIES: Preemraff Gothenburg, St1 Refinery, Nynas Ro-ro and vehicles Containers The Port of Gothenburg houses Scandinavia s largest container terminal. Here more than 40 shipping companies offer routes covering the entire world every single day. The 80 hectare terminal is of international top class and has the capacity to handle the world s largest freight vessels. Within the port area there is also a wide variety of services on offer, everything from container depots and container service to transshipment of import and export cargoes as well as warehousing and logistics services. At the Port of Gothenburg there are four specialised ro-ro and vehicle terminals that handle all types of rolling goods. Two of them are linked to the rail line, with rail tracks leading all the way to quayside. There are also several transshipment terminals that offer stuffing and stripping facilities. We are also Sweden s largest export port for vehicles. More than 70 ro-ro departures per week guarantee high frequency and quick goods flow. Vessels to and from Belgium, Denmark, Britain, Germany and Finland call every day. RO-RO TERMINALS: Gothenburg Roro Terminal, Logent Ports and Terminals, Stena Line Denmark terminal & Germany terminal CONTAINER TERMINAL: APM Terminals Gothenburg 8 9

Cruise lines and ferry operations Passenger traffic in the Port of Gothenburg is dominated by Stena Line which is one of the world s largest ferry operators. The ferries have frequent departures on two routes one to Frederikshavn in Denmark and the other to Kiel in Germany and these vessels are combined passenger and freight carriers. The port s location on the west coast and the fast approach means that the Port of Gothenburg is a highly attractive destination for cruise liners too. There are two cruise terminals here, as well as another two quays for visiting vessels of all sizes. Breakbulk In the Port of Gothenburg all the terminals have excellent experience of unloading, loading and preparing all kinds of breakbulk goods. This includes everything from high & heavy and project cargoes, to steel and other goods of non-standard dimensions. The port regularly handles cargoes such as wind turbines and hydroelectric turbines, rolling stock, helicopters, generators, steel, housing modules for oil rigs, and other tall, wide and heavy cargoes. We have the capacity to handle all types of forestry products, irrespective of whether they arrive by vessel, container train, conventional train or truck. Thanks to smart train solutions, terminals linked directly to the railway network and weather protection for transshipment of paper, paper pulp and timber, we can offer safe and secure handling and swift transport all year round. Sweden s best logistics SWEDEN S BEST LOGISTICS LOCATION E6 E45 1 million possibilities close to the Port of Gothenburg An all-new logistics park covering 1 million square metres is growing right beside Scandinavia s largest port. It is called the Port of Gothenburg Logistics Park and it will offer a wide range of warehousing and logistics services just ten minutes from the quayside. 500,000 square metres of warehousing and logistics premises will be built here. From here you have what is probably the country s best access to efficient road and rail links for swift transportation and delivery anywhere in Scandinavia within 24 48 hours. Within a range of 500 kilometres you have three capital cities and 70 per cent of Scandinavia's population and industry. The park consists of several sections and the Port of Gothenburg owns the two areas lying closest to the port in this projected image. E20 Centre 40 GOTHENBURG HAS BEEN NAMED SWEDEN S BEST LOGISTICS LOCATION FOR 16 CONSECUTIVE YEARS The award* emphasises the benefits of Scandinavia s largest import and export port, its extensive railway shuttle facilities that favour sustainable distribution, and its huge investment in a new logistics park which cuts the distance between the port and its storage facilities, thus lowering logistics costs. E6 * Trade publication Intelligent Logistik Port area Main roads Railway Focus on the environment The Port of Gothenburg is classified as one of the world s greenest ports. We work actively and long-term to minimise the impact of maritime operations on the environment and to contribute to sustainable transportation. Here are a few examples: Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) In the Port of Gothenburg vessels can bunker Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). 53,000 tonnes Every year, the rail shuttles to the Port of Gothenburg cut carbon dioxide emissions by more than 53,000 tonnes. 12 Onshore power supply With vessels at quayside hooked up to onshore power supply, emissions can be considerably reduced and the result is also a quieter port environment. Environmental discount on port dues We reward vessels with good environmental performance and offer them an environmental discount on their port dues. 13

The port grows to cater for the future The Port of Gothenburg is growing more than ever before with new terminals, logistics premises, roads and railway lines. A new intermodal terminal is being constructed in the outer port area. We are expanding to prepare for future cargo volumes and even larger vessels. One of the biggest projects is an entirely new 220,000 square metre port terminal in Arendal. The new port will handle both ro-ro and container vessels. There is no doubt that the port of Gothenburg lives up to its reputation as a No-Limits Port Magnus Kårestedt, CEO, Port of Gothenburg Projected image of the new intermodal terminal and expansion of a new port terminal. 14 15
