Graduates are likely to possess a degree in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering or environmental sciences. As an engineer, you will need to have good technical, managerial, interpersonal and problem solving skills. The balance of skills required will vary depending on the area in which you are working and the level of responsibility you are expected to take on. TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT We understand that every graduate likes to work slightly differently and has different career aspirations. We will tailor your training and development to meet your own personal needs whilst ensuring you have maximum support in achieving your career goals. We are committed to providing training and development that empowers our people to enhance their skills and knowledge. We specifically encourage university graduates during their early career at WSP to gain experience through further education and professional qualifications. WSP is a member of several accredited schemes. We also support graduates becoming Chartered. If graduates are interested in pursuing a different route, we provide the same support in terms of training and mentoring. WSP University has been created to assist employees with their personal and professional development. This provides over 95 courses which can be booked online. Courses are delivered through a variety of training methods including classroom training, e-learning, books and DVDs. They allow individuals to expand not only their technical skills but also commercial, procedural and individual skills. You will also be assigned a mentor who will provide you with the technical support you need to achieve your professional goals. All of our graduates receive additional support via regional networking groups which are run by graduates, for graduates. As part of the graduate group you will be involved in organising a number of activities, helping you grow and work within a strong network of people. Finally, and most importantly, you can expect to receive daily support from your line manager and team members who will encourage you to learn and develop at a rate that suits you. SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT When you join WSP as a graduate you can expect support from several networks which will provide you with everything you need to do your job well. The majority of graduates/post graduates are in civil, structural, building services, electrical or mechanical engineering or a specialist area such as environmental, transport planning or fire engineering. As a growing organisation we consider graduates from a varied academic background. In which office will I be based? With over 20 offices in the Asia Pacific, we try to accommodate the preferences of individual applicants. However because of the volume of graduate applications it is not always possible to offer first choices. So the more flexible you can be regarding the location, the more opportunities will be open to you. (See back page for details of office locations). When will I start working? We are flexible and tailor the graduate training programme to suit you. Graduates can start any time of the year. What salary and benefits does WSP offer?
