Postal Hiring Process Overview The four steps to the postal hiring process. 1 2 3 Open Account Create Profile Search Jobs And Apply Online Take Exam 4 Interview

Step #1 - Search Jobs Online Searching for job openings online at the USPS website can be very challenging. Many unprepared applicants overlook the entry level jobs that are available in their area. This occurs because: The format for searching jobs on the USPS site provides for three (3) different search options. The search options on the USPS site require detailed job information that many applicants do not have. As a result, candidates may get a no results found message when they search for jobs in their area. When an applicant searches for a job and receives the no results found message they are likely to believe there are no positions in an in fact, there may be one or more positions available. One option that is effective on the USPS search site is the search by State option. While performing a search by State the applicant may receive a positive response, the site only displays 15 jobs at a time, in a list format. It is easy for the applicant to believe that these are the only jobs available in the state. There are two (2) ways to use the Job Locator to find jobs in a specific area. I. Open the map and keep clicking on the circles (which represent the number of jobs in that area). II. Enter the zip code of the applicable area, and the map zooms in to that area. To get put as Fast as would be prudent, here are a couple of Vital TIPS: Employments found everywhere throughout the nation travel every which way much of the time, and are filled rapidly. Your goal is to take and pass the exam, as soon as possible, so that you will be included in the pool of qualified candidates and be eligible to be invited to interview. The higher your score on the exam, the sooner and more likely you are to be hired. Apply for the closest job, regardless of whether or not it is the job that you really want. This will allow you take the exam as soon as possible, and get into the pool of qualified candidates.

Going through the way toward opening a record, finishing the profile, distinguishing an occupation, applying for the employment, taking the exam and finishing the meeting takes half a month to achieve. It is vital for you to begin when you are completely arranged by enrolling for this program and taking the exam test systems. When you have finished the procedure push ahead with any positions that are accessible. Once in the pool of qualified candidates, you may apply for as many open jobs in which you may have an interest, no matter where the job is located. Sometimes the most desirable jobs are not posted to the public. They are only offered via private email to those who have already passed the exam, or to those who have interviewed well for other jobs in that area. You should pursue the best job available, not the perfect job. Once hired, there are jobs offered only to employees. This opens up opportunities for you to transfer to a more desirable or higher paying job. Step #2 Apply Online The online profile and the application areas are somewhat dubious. They require close consideration detail. Finishing the profile and application will test a candidate's capacity to peruse and take after headings. A slip-up at this stage can disposed of you before constantly getting to the exam or meeting stage. The E-career profile must be precise and finish. Everything pushing ahead depends on this E-career Profile. In the event that mix-ups are made you will be ineligible for the position being connected. When you get to be distinctly ineligible for a specific occupation, you can't reapply for a 120days We advise you to register for the program now. Accept this open door to guarantee you are completely arranged to leave on your new vocation with the US Postal Administration. Try not to commit an error by neglecting to completely comprehend and plan for the procedure and take out yourself from thought for one of these exceedingly alluring postal positions.

Step #3 Take Exam The Exam is composed of two (2) parts, an online Assessment and a supervised test. Success on both of these parts of the exam are a critical part of the postal hiring process. The Assessment is not a graded test. You either are qualified under the USPS standards to proceed to the next step or you are not. Once you are determined to be qualified you are invited to complete the second part of the test. In order to qualify for an interview and to get hired, a candidate must score 70 or higher on the 473/473E Exam. Typically, only the highest scorers on the 473/473E exam are invited to the interview. Remember, the exam may be taken only once every four (4) months. ADVANCE PREPARATION AND PRACTICE TAKING THE EXAM will almost certainly result in scoring higher on the exam and performing better in the interview. The great news is that anyone can learn how to achieve a really high score on the exam, regardless of education level or past performance on tests. When you register for our Program, you will receive access to study materials, advice and tips on taking the exam, and, an outstanding postal exam preparation tool.

Step #4 - Interview The interview procedure is your last stride in the postal hiring process.typically only the highest scorers on the exam are invited to the interview. When you receive your invitation to the interview should be prepared to offer the interviewer examples displaying organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work well with little or no supervision. It s important that you prepare for the interview with the USPS as dignity as you would prepare for a job interview in the private sector. This is your final opportunity to sell yourself. This is the time to convince I. the USPS hiring manager that you are the best candidate for the job. Our Program provides you with interview tips and techniques that will help you with: An understanding of the duties and responsibilities of the position (s) available, Questions that are normally asked inthe interview and guidance on appropriate responses, and Suggestions on how to emphasize your qualifications and how to improve your ability to sell yourself. https://www.postaljobscenter.com Focus and Practice are the keys to finding a lucrative and remunerating profession with the US Post Office.

9 Summary Possibility for the section level employments with the US Postal Services may acquire a free leaflet entitled Production 60-A. This was set up by the USPS to offer data to candidates for the 473 Exam. Shockingly, it has not been redesigned since 2004. This USPS publication includes sample questions for each section of the exam. In reviewing the sample question you will see that they do not appear to be very difficult. This might give you the impression that the exam is very easy; it is not. While the questions may not seem very difficult, the limitation of time for you to read them, to think about the answer, and complete all the questions on the test makes the test much more difficult. In order to score high enough on the exam to get invited to the interview, you must be able to not only answer the questions correctly, you must also be able to do so at a pace that enables you to complete the entire exam. Simply having a few sample questions does not adequately prepare a candidate to achieve a high score on the exam. While the Exam is very important, the other stages in the hiring process are also very important. Preparation for the early stages in the hiring process and for the final interview is often not given the attention and importance that it requires. The Search process can be challenging. There are a number of methods to search for jobs at the USPS. A failure to input detailed information that is not readily available often results in a no results found message. This may cause you to overlook jobs that actually are available. The online application requires attention to detail. It s easy to make careless mistakes. Proper guidance can prevent you from getting eliminated. During the interview you will be asked a number of questions that may not seem to relate to the job for which you are applying. The questions are often very open-ended. Coaching ahead of time will give you an understanding of the purpose of the question and what type of response the interviewer is looking for. Because applicants are hired based on their performance throughout the entire postal hiring process, it s very important that you perform well in each step.
