Updating your M&T Accounts in Quicken Windows 2014 2017 software Please review these instructions and all tasks to continue the connection of your M&T Bank accounts through Quicken WHAT YOU MUST DO Do NOT use these instructions if you are currently using M&T Bank Direct Connect as your primary connection to your M&T Bank accounts within the Quicken Software. If you currently use M&T Bank OLD your connection within the Quicken software, you must this update to transition the service connecting your M&T Bank accounts with Quicken. After November 1, 2017, you will not be able to use Quicken to access your M&T Bank accounts until you this transition. You will receive an error message if you try. This transition process will take between 15 to 60 minutes to, depending on the number of accounts and bill payments you have with M&T Bank. You will need your M&T Online Banking User ID and Passcode to this transition. If you need assistance with your User ID and Passcode, call us at 1-800-790-9130. Be sure to follow the instructions through this document very carefully. Otherwise you may not be able to successfully the transition. Keep in mind, we are here to answer any questions and provide assistance. Simply call us at 1-800- 790-9130 Monday through Friday, 8am-9pm ET, Saturday and Sunday, 9am-5pm ET. WHEN YOU MUST ACT EEach of the following tasks must be d by November 1, 2017, to ensure you maintain all of your account inmation on Quicken: 1. Backup your software 2. Cancel M&T Bank bill payments in Quicken 3. Deactivate the connection of M&T Bank accounts in Quicken 4. Enroll in Direct Connect through M&T Online Banking 5. Reactivate the connection of M&T accounts in Quicken using Direct Connect 6. Reschedule M&T bill pays, if necessary Once you these tasks, your transition will be finished, and your M&T accounts will work as they did in the past. Task 1: BACKUP AND UPDATE YOUR SOFTWARE Note: Backup your data by following your normal process or completing the actions below. For Quicken 2014 through 2017 users Task 2: CANCEL M&T BILL PAYMENTS IN QUICKEN Note: To prevent any duplicates on your system once the transition is, you will need to cancel all Quicken payments your M&T accounts that are scheduled.. Step 1: To start, we ll help you create a report of the payments you ll need to cancel when a. Select File > Backup and Restore > Backup Quicken b. On the Backup Options window, choose to Backup on my computer or hard drive Select checkbox to Add date to backup file name If you receive a warning message, click the Change Location button If you receive a problem warning message to rebuild, click Close and the Run Rebuild button c. Select Backup on my computer or hard drive > and choose a location to store the backup d. Click Back up Now e. Quicken will report a successful backup f. Click OK to continue a. Select Reports > Banking > Transaction b. Select Customize at the top right c. Select Date Range drop down > Select Custom Change the dates. Enter today s date in the From line, and 3 years from today in the To line when d. Click the Accounts tab > choose all M&T Bank accounts with bill pay e. Click Advanced tab > Under Status unselect Newly Cleared and Reconciled f. Click OK to view the report. The report will only show payments you need to cancel. You are NOT deactivating or closing the accounts themselves.follow your normal procedure to match transactions. If you need help, chose Help Menu>QuickBooks Help. Search Matching Transactions and follow instructions. To add transactions as new, follow the instructions below. when a. Select Tools > Account List b. In the Account List window, identify an M&T Bank account to start c. On this identified M&T Bank account select Edit d. In the Account Details window, select the Online Services tab e. Select Deactivate under Online Setup f. Select Yes on confirmation window g. Select OK h. Select General in Account Details window i. Go to MTB.com and log in to Online Banking c. Select the Services tab d. Under TOOLS TO HELP YOU MANAGE YOU FINANCES > Select Direct Connect e. Enroll in Direct Connect f. Confirm enrollment g. Log out of M&T Online Banking Task 5: REACTIVATE CONNECTION OF M&T BANK ACCOUNTS IN QUICKEN USING DIRECT CONNECT a. Select Tools > Account List b. In the Account List window, identify an M&T Bank account to start c. On this identified M&T Bank account select Edit d. In the Account Details window, select the Online Services tab e. Select Set up now.. in the Online Setup f. At the bottom of the Activate One Step Update window, select Advanced Setup when g. Under Enter the name of your financial institution > search M&T Bank Direct Connect and select Quicken Windows 2014 2017 5
h. Select Next and enter your M&T Online Banking User ID and Password and select Connect i. Confirm Link is selected the account in process, and select Next j. Select OK k. You will be brought back to the account list screen, confirm Direct Connect is listed that account l. Repeat steps b k as necessary Task 6: RESCHEDULE M&T BILL PAYMENTS, IF NECESSARY Note: For users who canceled payments in Task 2. a. Compare the payments on your printout from Task 2 to the scheduled payments and history in M&T Online Banking Log into M&T Online Banking at mtb.com, then go to Payments & Transfers > View Bill Payment Activity b. Any payments on your list that are also found in Online Banking should be recreated without selecting Online Payment. Note: you are re-creating the payment to reconcile and match future posted payments c.
