GRC History Cooke Precast Concrete Pty. Ltd. commenced business in September 1996, with a staff combining together bringing many decades of knowledge and experience within the precast concrete, transport and specialists in the drainage industries. Operations The Company manufactures from a factory at Edinburgh North, South Australia, with an extensive range of slip moulds for precast production in the drainage field, numerous moulds for sumps, side entry pits, inspection openings and cable pits. Cooke Precast Concrete can provide a large range of access cover products in addition to septic tanks, car park and domestic products. With our own large concrete batching facility we are able to produce consistent mixes as well as the special design batches like calcareous aggregate, fondag, coloured and high strength concrete. With the opening of our G.R.C. (Glass Reinforced Concrete) division in July 2000 our flexibility to supply all types of product is now complete. Commercial Cooke Precast are suppliers to Local Government, State and Federal Authorities and being a Quality Endorsed Company to AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008 we can comfortably perform to the required standards. Industrial With our vast range we supply to Civil / Drainage and Electrical Contractors, Plumbers and Builders for projects ranging from housing development to new airports, or motels to take-away shops. We are proud manufacturers of a modular Pumping Station System (sizes up to 3200mm internal diameter) which are custom made and supplied throughout Australia and shipped to New Zealand. Domestic Factory flexibility enables us to produce a full range of septic tank and ancillary products, also paving slabs, a range of walling sleepers and lawn edges for parks and gardens. G.R.C. Drainage & Electrical G.R.C. pit and linear drainage products are lightweight yet with the strength stronger than concrete. Cooke Precast produces a full range of easy to handle pits suited for both the electrical and drainage industry. Along with the linear drainage channel system (Rapid channel) being available ex stock with a choice of covers or gratings we can supply a lightweight alternative to complement our catalogue. Havestock are the largest Australian supplier of Quality Assured cast-iron drainage products made to AS 3996. Lifting Clutches Sizes used 1.3 Tonne 2.5 Tonne 5.00 Tonne 10.00 Tonne All CPC products requiring lifting points are manufactured with spherical head anchors Glass Reinforced Concrete ( G.R.C. ) is a generic name for a composite product constructed from a matrix of cement, fine aggregate and glass fibre. Methods of manufacture are the traditional vibration casting method similar to the pre-cast concrete industry or the more common spraying process through a special glass / slurry chopper gun. GRC combines the high strength of glass fibre with the rigidity of cement mortar to give a tough, rigid material that has a strength to weight ratio superior to most other commonly used building products. why use G.R.C.? Light Weight Impermeable and Water Resistant Compared with pre-cast concrete, GRC products are usually less than 25% of the weight. This makes it safe, easy to handle and work on site. Perfect for the pre-cast drainage market. GRC is virtually impermeable to water thus making it ideal for water related produts such as drainage, channels, sumps and pumping chambers. Chemical Resistance Impact Resistant With a higher impact resistance than other materials GRC makes it more able to resist potential transport, site handling and installation damage. Compatible with Concrete GRC is a crack resistant material compatible with concrete and has excellent surface bonding features. GRC blends and adapts to in-situ cast concrete and eliminates future product separation as can happen to polymer based materials. Weather Proof Fire Resistant It will not burn or emit smoke when compared with other polymer products and other light weight fire resistance materials. This gives architects and designers greater flexibility in specifying components to satisfy fire performance requirements. GRC will not rust or rot, needs no painting and because it contains no steel it will not corrode or expand. GRC does not suffer from traditional concrete product cancers. GLASS REINFORCED CEMENT TECHNICAL Flexural Strength: 25mpa @ 28 days compared to concrete strengths of 8mpa to 10mpa. Compressive Strength: 60mpa @ 28 days which is almost double that of most similar pre-cast concrete products. Marine Environments: Seawater and seaspray exposure of GRC give mechanical property changes similar to those in fresh water exposure and natural weather at equivalent temperature. Some surface carbonation can occur which may detract from the appearance of the GRC but is not detrimental to its mechanical properties. The rate of carbonation is normally signifcally lower than that of concrete. AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008 Cert No. QEC14467 Higher density and high cement contents of GRC compared to concrete give it a higher chemical resistance than other cement-based materials. For extreme conditions GRC is easily acceptable for coatings of epoxy based products for greater protection from alkalis, acids and other chemicals. D ATA Freeze-Thaw Behaviour: GRC may be subjected to long periods at sub-zero temperatures and to repetitive freeze-thaw conditions with no sign of damage. U.V. Resistant: GRC is not susceptible to degradation arising from exposure to ultra violet light.
