Robin Rossmann, managing director of STR, comments: 2015 saw strong RevPAR growth in Europe underpinned by peak occupancies and good rate growth across both group and transient business. Profitability in European cities is on the rise with most major cities now achieving in excess of 30% margins. Occupancy a percentage of rooms occupied. Average Daily Rate (ADR) a measure of the average net rate paid for rooms sold, calculated by dividing room revenue by rooms sold Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) room revenue divided by rooms available. Supply the number of rooms times the number of days in the period. Demand the number of rooms sold times the number of days in the period. Revenue total revenue generated from the sale of rooms. Forecast projected figures of the above measures for select markets. Census number of properties and rooms that exist in our database. Pipeline the number of rooms in construction, broken down by planning phase. Gross Operating Profit Per Available Room (GOPPAR) revenue minus cost of sales. Total Revenue Per Available Room (TRevPAR) includes all line items reported. Data is available for the majority of countries and is segmented into geographic markets defined by STR. Growth rates can be obtained against the same period last year or as a roll-up of a month or year so far (month / year-to-date).
