Community development Assistant- Livelihoods and Resilience Location: [Africa] [Uganda] [Kampala] Category: Food Security & Livelihood Position: Community Development Assistant- Livelihoods and Community Resilience Reports to: Child sponsorship and Development Facilitator (CSDF) Location: World Vision areas of operation. Purpose of the position: To implement field level Resilience and Livelihood programmatic activities in line with targets and partnership standards in a manner that contributes to sustained and improved child wellbeing. Major Responsibilities: Project implementation and reporting Participate in planning and budgeting, preparation of work plans, implementation of food security and community/livelihoods planned activities and monitoring/ reporting of progress and document lessons learned. Provide technical advice on best practices and approaches to sustainable food security and community resilience/ livelihoods programming. Facilitate, provide technical backstopping and monitor the implementation of planned activities and community level engagements.
Mobilize and facilitate the engagements of stakeholders during planning and development meetings, workshops and other fora. Identify local level partners and support and facilitate the partners in the implementation of planned activities. Facilitate stakeholders and partners in supervision and monitoring of programmatic activities. Support the collection and documentation of impact and success stories. Community engagement and advocacy Take overall lead in the coordination of field level activities Ensure Small holder farmers groups are mobilized, organized and strengthened into strong business groups/cooperatives (rural producer cooperatives, marketing cooperatives, Savings groups/savings and Credit Cooperatives) for bulk purchase of inputs, value addition, bulking and collective marketing of produce Develop the farmer's capacity to improve production and productivity of selected enterprises of desired quality by the market through demonstrations to farmer's Establish and follow up demonstrations to facilitate production and productivity among the farmers Organize quarterly review meetings for partners and communities at the project sites to reflect on programmes/projects approaches, tools, impact of interventions, best practices, exit and sustainability strategies as well as create spaces and opportunities for action-learning and debate.
Coordinate partners in implementation of agreed action plans. Lead the monitoring and evaluation of all the partnership activities Link farmers to financing opportunities from government and existing Micro Finance Institutions Provide training and backstopping on gender to partners Provide technical training and capacity building efforts for the farmers in collaboration with other parties Innovatively support communities including Registered Children (RC) households to participate and benefit from the programme development. Sensitize community on sponsorship (RC guardians, community leaders and other community members) and facilitate participation in the sponsorship management project. Build the capacity of farmers business groups/cooperatives to collectively engage local leaders on identified issues. Follow-up on commitments by leaders on improvement of the wellbeing of children. Mobilize communities to participate in annual agricultural events such as agricultural shows, World Food Day, Monitoring of Registered Children (RCs) Monitoring of Care givers of RCs and ensure they are members of farmer business groups/cooperatives and are accessing business developments services and RCs are benefiting. Monitoring and follow up of the child wellbeing outcomes.
Participate in monthly / quarterly reflection meetings with Child Monitors and guardians/parents and child protection committees to address findings from monitoring. Work with Supervisor to identify, train monitors and partners Child Protection and Wellbeing Monitor the wellbeing and child abuse cases and report any incidents in line with child protection policy and guidelines. Work with local leaders to protect children from child violations and abuses Sensitize children including RCs, guardians/parents and other stakeholders about childrens rights and responsibilities. Required skills and experience Minimum of a diploma in agriculture or agribusiness or any other relevant discipline. Minimum of 2 years experience in community work and engagement Agricultural, Economic Development and Livelihood Entrepreneurship, micro finance and strong agribusiness skills Computer literate
