Course Outline Chapter 1: Global Address Book Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 includes a global address book that is shared among all companies in your environment. You do not have to create virtual companies for the global address book, as in past releases of Microsoft Dynamics AX. The global address book stores party record information for each organization or person that your organization has contact with, such as customers, vendors, competitors, and workers. A party is a person or organization that is either internal or external to your organization. Review setting up global address book Introduce the creation of address books Discuss global address book security Describe address format setup Creating a global address book Chapter 2: Setup and Maintain Emails Email is an essential part of the setup of batch processing, alerts, and workflows in the integration of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 and Microsoft Outlook. Ensure email is setup Review email batch jobs Discuss emails and retry schedules Setting up email Proprietary and Confidential Page 4 of 13 2012

Users can set their own alerts for almost any condition that might occur within their business. Define alerts Demonstrate the variety of alert views available Review the setup of alerts Discuss the alert rule structure Review the flow of alerts Analyze the possible issues in unsent alerts Introduce alert maintenance Create an alert rule Chapter 4: Security Considerations Microsoft Dynamics AX has a variety of security and configuration options within the application framework, to help keep sensitive data safe, users focused on their roles, and the system as streamlined as possible. Microsoft Dynamics AX offers many security and configuration options. Knowing how to implement these options will help companies cover security needs. Security is expanded in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 to a model that supports interoperability with many other systems that already exist. It is made up of reusable security roles, process cycles, duties, privileges, and permissions. Along with the new Extensible Data Security framework, these security tools give administrators greater control of individual and data access. This improves the adherence to internal policy and external security auditing controls. Review the security overview Discuss authentication methods Demonstrate adding users Explain role based security Review extensible data security framework Discuss customizing security Adding System Users Grant a user access to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Proprietary and Confidential Page 5 of 13 2012

Chapter 5: Security Development Tool Demonstrate the installation process Admin & Security Essentials R3: Syllabus and Agenda Describe the Security Entry Point Permissions form Describe the Shortcut Menu options Test security permissions Explain how to maintain permissions Record entry points Update a role Chapter 6: AOT Security The developer manages the role-based security using the AOT in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. This is an expansion of the capabilities of the system administrator in the AX UI. The developer can create models for the system administrator to use, without creating extra code or extensive maintenance. Query policies also can be developed that allow specific access to rows or records depending on the need to either enable or restrict views to data. Review role-based security in the AOT for developers Discuss automatic inference of permissions in AOT security Describe query security policies in the AOT for data records Changing security settings Chapter 7: Layers and Models Microsoft Dynamics AX uses a layering system where layers are a hierarchy of levels in the application source code. This ensures that modifications and additions can be made without interfering with the application objects on other levels. A model is a set of elements in a given layer. Each layer consists of one or more models. Each layer contains one system-generated model that is specific to that layer. Every element in a layer belongs to only one model. In other words, no element can belong to two models in the same layer, and every element must belong to a model. Explain layer architecture in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Discuss the structure and benefits of model object management : Create a development project. Proprietary and Confidential Page 6 of 13 2012
