AF 126 AF 126-2 AF 126-3 AF 163-2 AF 3109-2 Gray, matte supported film adhesive. Lower tack version of AF 126, allows repositioning during film lay-up. Higher peel version of AF 126, meant for unprimed metal bonding. Good prebond humidity resistance. Available in variety of scrims and coat weights. 250/350 F dual-cure, excellent honeycomb peel (75 lbs./3 in.), good shear at 300 F (1500 PSI). AF 3185 Low flow version of AF 163-2. 350 F CURING FILM ADHESIVES EPOXY Features low pressure cure, high flow and filleting properties suitable for honeycomb bonding as well as metals to metal bonding. AF 131-2 AF 191 Improved shear strength at high temperatures (3000 PSI @ 400 F). Best combination of high honeycomb peel (48 lbs./3 in.) and high temperature shear properties (2000 PSI @ 350 F), outstanding long term durability (34,000 hrs. @ 350 F). AF 555 Excellent prebond resistance to humidity. 1 year out-time at ambient conditions. 4

350 F CURING FILM ADHESIVES-NITRILE PHENOLIC Provides high shear and high peel metal to metal bonds. No flow, high pressure cure required to contain volatiles, therefore unsuitable for honeycomb bonding. AF 10 High T-Peel (40 PIW), excellent shear at 180 F (1600 PSI), used with EC-1290 primer, available in 6 mil (AF-6). AF 15 AF 30 AF 31 3 mil version of AF-31. Good shear strength to 500 F (500 PSI), good T-Peel (40 PIW). Higher 500 F Shear (800 PSI), lower T-Peel (25 PIW). AF 32 Higher T-Peel (60 PIW), slightly lower 500 F shear strength (400 PSI). THERMALLY EXPANDING CORE SPLICE FILMS 250 F and 350 F cure. Low density, expandable films for filling mismatched areas, splicing and reinforcing honeycomb core. Available in 25, 50 and 100 mil. AF 3002 AF 3024 AF 3028 Highest shear at 350 F. 40% lower density than AF 3002. Highest expanding core-splice at 2 times higher. Slightly higher expansion, slightly lower temperature performance than AF 3002. AF 3028FR Flame resistant version of AF 3028. ADHESIVES 5

27 COMPOSITES Filament Winding Resin Composite Tooling Prepreg Process Description Fibers in resin wound on a mold and the part cured Molds for composite parts fabricated from prepreg Fabricated Parts Tanks, shafts, tubes, rods Composite Tooling Prime Applications Driveshafts: cars, trucks, construction, helicopters, oil and gas drilling High strength tubes: structures, hydraulics, piping, spars, masts New and replacement tooling made of conventional composite and metal (Invar) Product 3M TM Matrix Resin 4833 3M TM Matrix Resin 140 F Fortified Composite Tooling Prepreg Supplied by Tencate in North America Differentiation 3M Advantage 3M Matrix Resins can be used to fabricate filament wound cylindrical and tubular structures with enhanced performance over neat resins e.g. higher stiffness, increased compression strength and lower weight. High performance carbon fiber driveshafts that can be made tougher, stronger, more durable and capable of higher torque than steel or aluminum. Filament wound structures with increased stiffness, compression strength, fracture toughness with lower weight. 3M MATRIX RESIN FOR COMPOSITES Tooling made with 3M Matrix Resins have the significantly increased hardness and improved fracture toughness needed for increased life and improved productivity of composite tools. Lower exotherm and shrinkage during cure and cured resin CTE enable greater dimensional stability compared to traditional tooling resins Composite tooling with higher surface hardness compared to traditional composite epoxy tools. Potential for less repair and longer life than competitive prepreg tools.

Resin Transfer Molding Resin* Resins for Prepreg Process Description Resin injected in mold filled with dry fiber and cured Resin pre-impregnated into fiber fabrics molded and cured Fabricated Parts Parts with high value, high volume, complex shapes A variety of parts Prime Applications Aircraft engine components: fan case, OGVs, blades. Landing gear components. Propellers. A wide variety of structures Product Not Commercialized yet 3M TM Matrix Resin 140F Tooling 3M TM Matrix Resin 3831 BMI - Not Commercialized Yet* Differentiation 3M Advantage 3M Matrix Resins are under development and are showing potential for use in high-rate RTM processes to fabricate high Tg composite structures that show improved stiffness and fracture toughness and reduced moisture absorption (compared to competive RTM resins). Composites with increased toughness, modulus and hot/ wet service temperature 3M is interested in the potential for 3M Matrix Resins for use in a variety of structures fabricated by prepreg Composites with improved performance - increased stiffness, compression strength, fracture toughness, service temperature compared to competitive prepreg resins *This product is developmental and available for evaluation purposes only.
