Disposing Containers 8 ChemSW CISPro Live is the chemical inventory system used at. It is used to track containers of chemicals by owner and location. Users can better manage their stocks of materials by knowing where chemicals are located down to the level of a bin on a shelf and also by knowing when to reorder supplies when they are low. Yellow piggyback barcode labels are attached to each inventoried container and by looking up the barcode, information about that container such as the owner, location, inventory date and container history may be viewed. 1. Logging into ChemSW CISPro Live a. Go to www.chemsw.com b. Click Login on top right of page c. The page will ask for information as in Figure 1. i. System: CISPro Live ii. Customer: bmc iii. User Name: Same as your e-mail login iv. Password: If it is your first time logging in, temp1234. This password is separate from the campus login password. d. The Home page will be displayed as seen in Figure 3. Figure 1. ChemSW Login page 2. Navigation Navigating ChemSW CISPro Live is done by clicking the links on the top left of the website. The most important page is the Home page (Figure 3). Many operations are performed from the Home page. The atom symbol highlighted in red as depicted in Figure 2 may also be used for navigating the inventory system from any page. Figure 2. 2. An advanced search is done by clicking the Search link under Materials on the Home page (Figure 3) a. The Search For Materials page (Figure 4) can search chemicals by many criteria b. Clicking a search result on the left side will bring up information about that chemical. Clicking the Containers tab will display the containers of the chemical entered in the inventory Figure 4. By barcode: A container may be searched by barcode if it is already in the inventory system by entering the barcode number found on the yellow piggyback label seen in Figure 5 Figure 5. b. Viewing a specific location i. To view containers by location, click on By Location under View Inventory while on the Home page (Figure 3) ii. The Containers By Location page will appear (Figure 6). The left side shows inventory locations. The menu can be expanded or collapsed by clicking + or -. Figure 6. Viewing the inventory by location 4. Receiving Containers Most containers entering the Park Science Building will be inventoried in the mailroom, Park 101, as they come in. These instructions are for users who wish to perform their own data entry. a. Search for the material first b. On the Containers tab, click Create Container i. If no results appear for your search, try changing the search criteria. If your material cannot be found, click on Material in the top left, then select Create New. Enter the Material name and Physical state. Press Submit to add the new material into the inventory system. c. Select the Manufacturer and size then click Receive i. If the manufacturer or size for the container is not listed, click on Configure Packages on the bottom left. Click on Package in the top left and select New Package to create a new manufacturer for the material. To add a size, select a manufacturer on the left side and click on Add New Size in the middle of the small box. Make sure to save the information. d. If using preprinted barcode labels, enter in the barcode ID. Otherwise, leave blank to have the system generate a barcode e. On the Receive Material page, select the owner of the container and the location. Enter the number of containers being added and click Receive. f. The container is received if the confirmation page appears. Jan. 2013 5/8

Step e. Step f. 5. Moving Containers and Transferring ownership a. On the Home page under Manage Inventory, click Search by Barcode. b. Search the barcode. Click on the barcode for your container. Disposing Containers When a container is finished, the yellow piggyback label should be removed from the container and applied to a Chemical Disposal Log sheet which are hanging up on green clipboards in various labs. The sheets will be collected monthly and removed from the system by designated users. a. Follow the same steps as with Moving Containers and Transferring ownership. b. Search for the container by barcode and view the container information (Figure 8). c. Click on the check box next to Disposed Container. d. Save the information by clicking the button on the bottom.
