Based on the global survey conducted by the IPPC Eight countries have confirmed their willingness to participate in piloting the hub with their existing national systems (Australia; Chile; China; Kenya; The Republic of Korea; The Netherlands; New Zealand; USA) Six countries confirmed their willingness to participate in the pilot using Generic ephyto National System (GeNS) after implementation (Ecuador; Egypt; Ghana; Guatemala; Samoa; Sri Lanka)
First ephyto workshop in Sri Lanka The workshop was conducted from 6 to10 June 2016 by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, Australia with Department of Agriculture Sri Lanka Facilitator - Dr Chin Karunaratne, Senior Project Scientist, Australia The objective was to discuss the ephyto project for setting up a Generic ephyto National System (GeNS) in Sri Lanka ephyto Project Planning (EPP) and field visit was done with officers from the Department of Agriculture in Sri Lanka Identified action items for the ephyto project in Sri Lanka Discussed about the ephyto project in Sri Lanka
Progress of ephyto project in Sri Lanka 1. Appointed project management team from the Department of Agriculture, Sri Lanka Project Coordinatior, Project Manager, Asst. Project Managers (03) and Technical Manager 2. Established ephyto Working group to manage future work 3. Developed a google e-mail group for information sharing 4. The members of the working group has individually assigned user names and passwords to access ephyto Sharepoint to exchange information between Sri Lanka and other global players.

11. Benefit Analysis The cost associated with the baseline benefit analysis of the work plan owed by another assessment after the pilot is developed and fully operational Therefore benefit analysis for the Sri Lankan ephyto work plan will be undertaken in two stages. 1 Before ephyto is introduced 2. After Generic ephyto National System is fully operational This analysis will be undertaken after Sri Lankan work plan is finalized and should be completed on May and June, 2017
12. Industry Awareness The DOA, Sri Lanka planed to organize one day awareness session Date: 16th December, 2016 Venue: Auditorium at Chamber of comers, Sri Lanka Mr Peter Neimanis and Dr Chin Karunaratne from Dept. of Agriculture & Water Resources, Canberra, Australia will be participated as recourse persons 400 participant will be invited for the Industry Awareness workshop.
Next visit to Sri Lanka Mr Peter Neimanis and Dr Chin Karunaratne already planed to visit Sri Lanka to finalize activities related to the ephyto project in Sri Lanka from 11-16 Dec, 2016 tentative program 11 December (Sunday) Visit the new quarantine facility at Mattala 12 December (Monday) Meeting with NPQS, Katunayake about the work plan 13 December (Tuesday ) - Meeting with NPQS, Katunayake about the work plan 14 December (Wednesday) Meeting with the Minister and with the Australian High Commission officials 15 December (Thursday) Visit Gannoruwa PQS, ICC Peradeniya 16 December (Friday) Industry Awareness Session
