Applications Each application requires a license for each device from which a user accesses the software. Multiple versions of the software may exist on the device under that license. Portable use rights permit the primary user of the device to install and run a secondary copy on a portable machine for their exclusive use. If the applications are used over a network, the device must still be licensed. Licenses covered under Software Assurance also include roaming use rights that permit the primary user to access the application over a network from any device. Microsoft Office suites are available in two flavors: Professional and Standard. These suites must be installed as a suite package and may not be split between machines or partially installed. Licenses are not interchangeable, meaning that a Standard installation must have a Standard license. A Standard install may not be installed under a Professional license. Microsoft Visio is available in three flavors: Visio Standard, Professional and Premium. Review each user to determine the most appropriate edition for each user's role. Visio Standard provides basic mindmaps, flowcharts and org charts. Visio Professional contains many advanced features including engineering, network, ITIL, architecture and service diagrams among others. In addition to the features of Visio Standard & Professional, Premium also includes Business Process Modelling notation, SharePoint workflow, Six Sigma, intelligent validation and subprocesses. To user the real-time sharing of dynamic, data driven diagrams via a browser, Visio Services and SharePoint 2010 will need to be integrated.
