BIM Level 2 The UK Government has mandated the requirement for industry to produce intelligent 3D models at Level 2 by 2016. Government have requested the information is provided in 3 different formats. These are as follows: Building Information Models 2D information (directly extracted from the models) COBie Information
BIM Level 2 To facilitate the BIM initiative, the UK Government has released an array of BIM Management documents, these are as follows: 1. PAS 1192-2:2013 Specification for information management for the capital/delivery phase of construction projects using building information modelling (CAPEX) 2. PAS 1192-3:2014 Specification for information management for the operational phase of assets using building information modelling (OPEX) 3. BS 1192-4:2014 Fulfilling employers information exchange requirements using COBie Code of practice 4. PAS 1192-5:2014 BIM and Security 5. Building Information Model (BIM) Protocol (CIC Documents) 6. GSL (Government Soft Landings) 7. dpow (Digital Plan of Works) 8. Classification System (Uniclass2015)
Benefits for Bouygues UK Effective engagement Aids decision making Communicates the client s requirements more clearly Aids client confidence in our approach Better project understanding and increased transparency Better collaboration Optimisation of Schedule and Cost Aids in the capture of Asset Information requirements Aids in the ability to create O&M data linked to the model
BIM for FM What is COBie? Construction Operation Building Information Exchange COBie: Is an internationally recognised data exchange standard It allows for building information exchange between design, construction and building owners
BIM for FM
BIM for FM COBie is an essential part of the UK government s BIM strategy. It is designed to automatically transfer data from the design and construction phase through to facilities management CAFM systems. Common data exchange the cloud COBie *.xls IFC *.ifc COBie *.xls Revit *.rvt Maximo *.max Archibus *.bus Revit export IBM Import
COBie Extraction from BYUK Scheme Exporting Revit to COBie: This enables us to transfer the asset information data to an external Facilities Management software (CAFM system). This has been used to extract the COBie data on a number of BYUK schemes.
From COBie to CAFM (CAFM Migration) Bouygues UK and Bouygues Energies & Services FM have processes and procedure for information requirements and information exchange. Bouygues UK began initially by testing the process of COBie extraction on a pilot project the COBie data was then shared with BYES and a mapping process (of COBie data into the CAFM system) was identified
COBie to Maximo Above is an example demonstrating how we have mapped the parameters from Revit to COBie to Maximo.
Next Steps 1. Continued integration with Bouygues UK and Bouygues Energies & Services 2. Further integration of BIM for FM on Bouygues UK projects 3. Further integration of BIM to Inform Lifecycle Costs 4. Further integration of BIM for Performance Monitoring
