Florida Department of Transportation CHARLIE CRIST GOVERNOR October 20, 2010 1109 South Marion Avenue Lake City, Florida 32025 STEPHANIE C. KOPELOUSOS SECRETARY To: Prospective Bidders Addendum No.: 1, E2O98, Financial Project # 42556815201 Roof replacement for Palatka Construction in Putnam County 1. The warranty used for the St Augustine and Jacksonville roofing projects is slightly different than the Duro-Last warranty. We will not be able to make any changes to our Warranty? Please advise if this will be acceptable. ANSWER: I have attached a sample copy of the Duro-Last warranty. A warranty for an alternate material must cover all aspects of the Duro-Last warranty in order to be considered equal. If an alternate manufacturer s standard warranty does not cover all items listed in the Duro-Last warranty, the alternate manufacture will have to attach a rider for any excluded items in order to be considered equal. 2. You were correct sir about the requirement of a gypsum product in order to achieve the UL Class A specified for the 2/5 in 12 slope when using a PVC type application. A UL Class A can be met with a JM Built up asphalt application using specification 4FLG. This would require a nailed base sheet to the existing LWC, three plies of GlasPly premier and flood coat and gravel. This would give you the same type roof you have now, accept the plys would be fiberglass not asbestos. JM can offer a 20 year warranty with this application. A UL Class B can be achieved with the same type application using a Glass Cap sheet in lieu of the gravel. We can coat the Cap sheet with our TopGuard 4000 to achieve a SRI value of 102, if required. ANSWER: A built up asphalt roofing system was not specified for this project and will not be approved as an alternate. 3. Duro-last requires DensDeck roofing board to fully adhere the 60 mil to. (alt 2) DensDeck comes in two thicknesses, 1/4 and 1/2. Which is required on this project? ANSWER: ¼ is acceptable as long as it meets all building code requirements. 4. What is the required o.c. spacing of the Vinyl ribs? ANSWER: 16-inches. 5. Duro-Last recommends their PVC eave drip on re-cover applications. Do we propose Duro-Last PVC eave drip or metal for this application? ANSWER: Edge detail shall be in accordance with project specifications which require a 2-piece compression metal edge manufactured by the roof membrane manufacturer. Finish shall be dark bronze Kynar. You must sign, date and fax a copy of this addendum back to me by close of business today to indicate receipt. The bidder is required to acknowledge the addendum in the space provided on the proposal. TopGard 4000 Description TopGard 4000 is a multipurpose, 100% acrylic elastomeric coating for use over a variety of substrates, including asphalt, single ply and metal roofing. TopGard 4000 has unique bleed-blocking properties that make it particularly well suited for coating over asphalt surfaces. TopGard 4000 exceeds several ASTM D 6083 requirements for critical properties such as tensile strength, elongation, wet adhesion and weatherability. Use TopGard 4000 is used as an excellent reflective coating over smoothor mineral-surfaced roofing systems on smooth roofs. It can be used over both modified and built-up roofing systems. For best results, this product should not be applied until the roofing membrane has had the opportunity to cure at least 60 days. Application When applying TopGard 4000, use a brush, roller or spray equipment. Make sure that all surfaces are clean, dry and free of any dirt, grease, oil or other debris that may interfere with proper adhesion. It is recommended that TopGard 4000 be applied in two coats. The first coat should be completely dry (normally 4 to 12 hours) before applying the second coat. Temperatures must be 50 F (10 C) and rising during time of application. Do not apply TopGard 4000 within 24 hours of anticipated rain, dew or freezing temperatures. As with any coating, cooler temperatures and high humidity will slow the cure time.
