What are SIPs? The Insulspan Structural Insulating Panel (SIP) system consists of performance rated oriented strand board (OSB) structurally laminated to a core of insulation. Insulspan SIPs provides building owners with a proven method of constructing walls and roofs resulting in real energy cost savings while adding resale value to the building. Insulspan SIPs use closed-cell rigid EPS insulation cores which helps reduce air leakage and thermal bridging by providing a continuous layer of thermal insulation in both wall and roof assemblies. For over 28 years, Insulspan has been leading the industry in the development and manufacturing of structural insulated panels. Insulspan SIP System Options: Prefabricated Panels Fabricated panels are SIPS that are custom cut to meet design panels will still need to have the panel to panel connection splines and any structural lumber installed on site. One advantage of be made to the panels much easier than if the lumber is already installed. Ready to Assemble Panels The Insulspan SIP System is also available as an industry-leading, ready-to-assemble (RTA) building system that gives builders a competitive edge over stick frame construction. This system choice is basically the same as the Prefabricated Panel option except that panel to panel connection splines and structural lumber is installed where possible. The advantage to this system choice is the reduction openings such as windows and doors will still be required. Why buy Insulspan? Insulspan is committed to being a dynamic, environmentally responsible company that manufactures innovative, high-quality insulating building products that are the very core of energy- Insulspan SIPs were voted one of the top 10 green building products of 2007 by the editors of not all Sips are created equal, and Insulspan is the best.

Reduced Air Leakage structures. Sustainability What does it mean to be sustainable? At Insulspan we strive to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. We support sustainability principles in the way we manufacture our products. Insulspan has adopted sustainable reporting practices so we can be accountable for our operations. Building with the Insulspan SIP System offers our customers the opportunity to: (1) Conserve scarce energy resources (2) Reduce operating costs in buildings (3) Reduce harmful green house gas emissions to the atmosphere. Simply put, the less energy we use in our homes, the less air pollution we generate.

Building Code Compliance The Insulspan SIP System meets code requirements for residential compliance with Code requirements for structural design, heat transfer, and air leakage and condensation control. Insulspan is the only SIP manufacturer in North America that has code listings for their SIP system in both the United States (ICC-ES Legacy Limited Warranty The Insulspan SIP System comes with a 10 year limited warranty. Insulspan warrants the Insulspan Structural Insulating Panel (SIP) System when installed in accordance with the recommendations of the Insulspan Installation Guide will: (b) Be free from any defect in materials and workmanship.

Performance The Insuls an airtigh In additio By utilizing reduced. C ready for oth doors can oc & keeping cost Easy to Qualify for Energy Star Our Insulspan SIP wall a system is an excellent way to meet m of energy performance standards. Structures built with Insulspan SIP wall and roof panels can qualify for an Energy Star rating without the need for a blower door test, rater. Building an energy star rated structure is a smart investment that will energy performance and be environmentally responsible. Insulspan panels, visit www.energystar.gov This is just a note telling you how very satisfied we are with our home. It has been very economical. We have been living in it for nine years. In that time period we have made at least four or five mortgage payments just from the propane we saved. We had some hesitation about building this type of construction but nine years later I wouldn t do it any other way. I recommend this type of construction to anyone who would like to save substantial money on energy costs. Bill and Lou McDonald Gowen, MI.

1 2 Consultation Insulspan provides dedicated technical personnel including engineers and an architect on staff to assist in the planning, design and construction phases of projects. We provide quick answers to all architect questions and can attend initial project meetings. Shop Drawings Architectural and engineering drawings for your project are utilized by our drafters to create Insulspan shop drawings of the SIP panel layouts for your review and approval. This review process helps to ensure that the panels that are delivered to the job match your design intent and the engineering requirements. 3 4 Plant Production Utilizing the latest technology in production equipment, Insulspan panels are precision cut to exact design specifications. Our SIPs are backed by a certified, quality controlled, manufacturing process. Delivery The Insulspan Installation Guide provides recommendations for the arrangements that will need to be in place prior to the SIPS arriving on your jobsite. Each installation will require specific site considerations for unloading. Recommendations are also provided related to requirements for the tools & equipment needed for installation, which could include rigging and lifting tools required for larger panels. 5 6 Wall and Roof Systems Our Wall and Roof SIP panels can be installed in a fraction of the time compared to conventional roofing methods. Site Advisors Insulspan provides site advisory service to train local assembly crews during installation. Insulspan Wall and Roof systems provide an energy efficient building envelope. Precision cut Insulspan SIPs are pre-manufactured to exact design specifications. Assisted by a crane, the SIPs are lifted and quickly fastened into place.

Effective Thermal Resistance Wall Comparison Roof Comparison The Insulspan SIP System provides wall and roof assemblies with higher effective thermal resistance (R-value) than other construction methods. The of an assembly is a measure of its ability to resist heat flow through it. The higher the of your wall assembly, the lower your energy costs for heating and cooling your home. 35 30 25 20 15 10 5 0 20.0 Nominal 16.8 Effective 2 x 6 Stud Wall c/w R-20 Batt 21.1 Nominal 22.3 Effective Insulspan SIP Wall System 6.5 Thick 35 30 25 20 15 10 5 0 35.0 Nominal 31.9 Effective 2 x 12 Joist Roof c/w R-35 Batt 35.1 35.8 Nominal Effective Insulspan SIP Roof System 10.25 Thick Wall and roof assemblies built with the Insulspan SIP System result in 40-60% reduction in heat loss when combined with other energy-efficient components such as windows, doors and a properly designed HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning). What customers are saying about Insulspan SIPs We have owned 10 different homes, all in states with similar weather conditions as Michigan. States like New York, northern Ohio, northern Illinois and Wisconsin. We built our retirement home here in Michigan using Insulspan SIP System on all levels of the home. Like most people who have not lived in an all SIPs Panel home, we questioned using panels on the lower walk out level. Our experience has been just what we were advised that it would be, the most comfortable lower level that we have ever owned. We are extremely pleased with our Insulspan home. It is the most comfortable, efficient home that we have owned and since it is our retirement home, that is important to us. John and Geri Johansen, Gowen, Michigan We are very happy with Insulspan, and we are confident that our home is top quality because of all the excellent care you gave at every point. You have a very happy customer here!
