4 Steam for Power and Process Steam for Power and Process With more than 300,000 MW of generating capacity in approximately 60 countries, B&W s heritage is built on steam generation. Renewable Energy 5 Renewable Energy When B&W Vølund developed its first waste-to-energy plant in 1930, it revolutionized waste-disposal techniques. Since then, B&W has grown to become one of the world s leading suppliers of equipment and technologies that turn solid waste and biomass into thermal energy. As a renewable fuel, biomass is CO 2 - neutral. 6 Sustainable, Clean Energy from Waste Sustainable, Clean Energy from Waste Waste-to-energy (WTE) is a vital part of a strong and sustainable waste management chain. As a critical component of a circular economy and fully complementary to recycling, it is an economically and ecologically sound way to provide a source of energy while diverting waste from landfills. Our WTE technology, developed and improved over the last 80 years, has been used in more than 500 applications engineered, tested and proven to offer real and lasting benefits.
Boiler Cleaning Controls and Diagnostics 7 Boiler Cleaning There s a reason seven out of ten power plants feature B&W s Diamond Power sootblowers. Using superheated or saturated steam, compressed air or water, Diamond Power boiler cleaning systems are trusted to remove deposits, prevent plugging of gas passes, and maintain boiler efficiency. Our specialized designs and configurations meet customer needs for precision, reliability and efficiency. Controls and Diagnostics B&W provides integrated control systems for a wide range of power plant operations, including comprehensive software for integrated boiler, environmental and auxiliary equipment optimization. Boiler monitoring cameras, along with advanced controls and monitoring systems for ash handling, cooling systems, electrostatic precipitators, and process diagnostics and optimization systems for combustion and emissions are also available.
8 Ash and Material Handling Cooling Systems Ash and Material Handling B&W s Allen-Sherman-Hoff bottom and fly ash systems are reliable and cost-effective alternatives to ash storage ponds and help to minimize use of process water. Engineered systems include dry and wet bottom ash conveyer systems and remote dewatering systems. B&W Loibl provides a range of solid fuel conveyance and in-feed technologies to transport and process fuel for power, heat and process steam generation. Our bulk material transport solutions range from single conveyor belts to complete customized systems and serve a wide range of material handling needs in many industries. Cooling Systems B&W SPIG provides an extensive range of turnkey cooling system solutions. Our experience includes wet, dry and hybrid cooling systems as dictated by site-specific requirements. We can supply both mechanical and natural draft systems and design for a wide range of project specifications such as high seismic loads, vibration control, corrosion, noise control, sub-freezing operation, and sea water use.
Emissions Monitoring Silencing and Filtration 9 Emissions Monitoring B&W can deliver a total emissions monitoring system, including individual components and/or expert service, to help monitor, collect and evaluate plant emissions data. Integrated continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS) and data acquisition and handling systems (DAHS) are available through our KVB-Enertec product line. Proprietary software is regularly updated to accurately measure data against the most current emissions standards. Silencing and Filtration With more than 50 years of experience in providing acoustic products and services for industrial, power generation, and oil and gas facilities, B&W Universal is uniquely qualified to deliver custom-engineered silencing solutions that meet safety, environmental and efficiency goals. We can provide and service the key components of a complete turbine or engine silencing solution, including inlet systems and exhaust silencers, as well as a full line of filtration technologies for gas turbines, compressors, blowers and diesel engines.
10 Air Emissions Control Air Emissions Control B&W is an innovator and industry leader in providing advanced air emissions control equipment and technologies for power plants and industrial processes. Our engineered solutions control a wide range of pollutants and emissions, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and odor, acid mists and gases including hydrogen chloride (HCl) and sulfur oxides (SO x ), particulates, nitrogen oxides (NO x ), carbon monoxide (CO), mercury, and other hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). Multi-pollutant control strategies are integrated to optimize overall plant emissions levels and help meet air emissions requirements.
Air Emissions Control 11 For industrial applications, technologies offered by B&W MEGTEC treat air emissions, process gases, odor, exhaust streams and solvent emissions used in manufacturing processes.
12 Liquid Purification and Distillation Liquid Purification and Distillation B&W MEGTEC offers complete distillation systems for separating and purifying solvent mixtures. Depending on customer and process requirements, our systems can be designed for either continuous or batch operations. In applications where the decanted water phase contains solvent levels that cannot be sent directly to drain or existing water treatment facilities, we provide a steam or air stripping column for solvent removal prior to discharge. Our in-house bench-scale pilot distillation system is available for process development testing of various liquid feed materials.
Solvent Recovery 13 Solvent Recovery B&W MEGTEC supplies proprietary regenerative carbon adsorption systems that remove, recover and purify solvents from process exhaust air streams. Our solutions offer an economical way to reduce emissions in a variety of applications and address emissions control requirements. Solvent recovery is particularly advantageous in applications where the quantity of solvents is large, the value of the solvents is high, or the solvents contain chlorine, bromine, fluorine or nitrogen as no secondary pollutants are produced. We also provide systems to remove benzene, toluene and xylenes from acid gas, and for removing unwanted organics from process exhaust gases upstream of catalysts.
14 Energy Storage Drying and Coating Web Handling Energy Storage B&W MEGTEC provides a comprehensive turnkey approach for producing battery electrode coated materials. We provide systems for raw material handling, slurry mixing and fluid delivery, web handling, coating and drying, solvent recovery and purification, calendering, and slitting. We pioneered and successfully implemented simultaneous two-sided horizontal tensioned-web coating, providing twice the throughput and uniform drying compared to single-side coaters. Drying and Coating With more than 45 years of experience, along with more than 100 patents and thousands of dryer installations worldwide, B&W MEGTEC is a recognized leader in providing drying and curing technologies for roll-to-roll processes, web-forming processes, and conveyor handling of individual parts. In the web offset and digital printing market, we pioneered the development of patented flotation dryers and integrated dryers with oxidation systems. The result is optimum printing performance, minimized energy and waste costs, and low emissions output to help meet stringent environmental requirements. Web Handling B&W MEGTEC automatic match-speed splicers help manufacturers increase productivity and reduce waste. We can deliver a complete system, from the wrapped roll converted to a web at the right tension and lateral position, along with high splice success rates, fewer web breaks, simple splice preparation, and low maintenance.
