Admiralty charts are nautical charts, issued by the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office. More than 3,000 charts are available and cover nearly the entire world. It s detail depending on the density of traffic and hazards. Normally large-scale charts often cover approaches and entrances to harbours, medium-scale charts cover heavily used coastal areas, and small-scale charts are for navigation in more open areas. It s a document that serves as an proof of the contract of carriage of goods, which is signed by a carrier (the transporter of goods) or the carrier's representative and issued to a consignor (the shipper of goods). It is also an evidences the receipt of goods for shipment to a specified destination and person. It is negotiable, since it can serve as a document of ownership, which allows ownership to the goods to be transferred by endorsement and delivery of the bill of lading. It contains the names of the consignor (shipper), consignee (receiver), master of the ship, the name of the ship and also voyage number, the place of departure (Port of loading) and destination (port of discharge), the price of the freight, the date of loading; the marks and numbers of the things shipped. 37. What is Ocean Bill of Lading? Ocean Bill of lading is issued by shipping lines, covering only port to port shipments of conventional cargo and sometimes containerized cargo. 38. What is Through Bill of Lading? The "through" bill of lading concept allows door to door shipments to be covered by a bill of lading. This concept is more common for containerized cargoes and is carried out using multi modal transportation (road/ rail + sea + road/rail). 39. What is Clean Bill of Lading? What is Cargo manifest? It is a manifest that lists only cargo, without freight and charges. This document is more applicable to port authorities and for customs purposes. 43. What is Freight manifest? It is a (cargo) manifest, including all freight particulars: This document is more applicable to the agent or the finance department of the carrier. 44. What is Air waybill?
