See Sections 8, 11 and 14 for details. SECTION 3 HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION EMERGENCY OVERVIEW: Appearance & odor: Amber (light) liquid with mild odor. Health hazards: Classified as not hazardous under OSHA regulations in the US, the WHMIS in Canada, the NOM-018-STPS-2000 in Mexico and Brazil NBR 14725:2001. Physical hazards: No specific hazards but use with care and follow good industrial hygiene practice. HMIS rating: Health = 0, Fire = 1, Reactivity = 0, Special = B NFPA rating: Health = 0, Fire = 1, Reactivity = 0 POSSIBLE ROUTES OF ENTRY: Inhalation, eye contact, dermal contact, ingestion. INHALATION: EYE CONTACT: SKIN CONTACT: May be harmful if absorbed through skin. SECTION 4 FIRST AID MEASURES INHALATION: If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Get medical attention if symptoms appear. SKIN Wash with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation occurs. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes and wipe excess from skin. Flush skin with water and wash with soap and water. Do not reuse clothing until cleaned. EYES: In case of contact, check for and remove any contact lenses. Immediately flush eyes with a copious amount of water for at least 20 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation develops. INGESTION: Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical attention if symptoms appear. NOTE TO PHYSICIAN: Not available. PROTECTION OF FIRST AID PROVIDERS: No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training. SECTION 5 FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES FLAMMABILITY OF THE PRODUCT: May be combustible at high temperatures. FLASH POINT: >464 F (Cleveland Open Cup) EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Use an extinguishing agent suitable for the surrounding fire. Do not use a direct stream of water. SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS: No special hazard, however fire-fighters should wear appropriate protective equipment and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with a full face-piece operated in positive pressure mode. UNUSUAL FIRE HAZARDS: Container explosion may occur under fire conditions or when heated. Cool closed containers exposed to fire with water. The final products of combustion are carbon oxides and water. Nitrogen, sulfur and metal oxides may also be produced in some cases. SECTION 6 ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS: Immediately contact emergency personnel. Keep unnecessary personnel away. Use suitable protective equipment. ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS: Avoid dispersal of spilled material and runoff and contact with soil, waterways, drains and sewers. METHODS FOR CLEANING UP: If emergency personnel are unavailable, contain the spilled material. liquid-proof container for disposal. For large spills, dike the spilled material or otherwise contain the material to ensure runoff does not reach a waterway. Place the spilled material in an appropriate container for disposal. SECTION 7 HANDLING AND STORAGE HANDLING: Avoid prolonged contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. STORAGE: Keep the container tightly closed. Keep the container in a cool, well-ventilated area. SECTION 8 EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS: Consult local authorities for acceptable exposure limits. ENGINEERING MEASURES: No special ventilation required. Good general ventilation should be sufficient to control airborne levels. If this product contains ingredients with exposure limits, use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep worker exposure below any recommended or statutory limits. EYE PROTECTION: Safety glasses with side shields. SKIN PROTECTION/BODY: HAND PROTECTION: Natural rubber gloves (latex). RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: PERSONAL PROTECTION IN CASE OF LARGE SPILLS: Safety glasses, goggles or face shield. Impervious gloves. Full suit. Boots. Wear NIOSH-approved selfcontained breathing apparatus and full protective gear. Wash hands, forearms and face thoroughly after handling compounds and before eating, smoking and using the lavatory and at the end of the day. Follow good industrial hygiene practice. SECTION 9 PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES APPEARANCE & ODOR: Light colored, amber liquid. Mild odor. Flash point: >464 F (Cleveland Open Cup) Specific gravity: 0.96 (Water = 1) SECTION 10 STABILITY AND REACTIVITY STABILITY: Material is stable under normal conditions. Disposal of this product, solutions and any by-products should at all times comply with the requirements of environmental protection and waste disposal legislation and any regional local authority requirements.
