Switchgear services Services for high- and medium-voltage equipment High- and medium-voltage switchgear are the core elements of every power network. Their fault-free operation is a prerequisite for a reliable power supply. Siemens equipment meets the highest requirements in terms of efficiency, safety, and reliability. We support our customers throughout the entire lifetime of their switchgear. Because valuable assets deserve excellent service! Siemens offers the full range of services for high- and medium-voltage switchgear, from planned maintenance and inspections, repair services and spare parts, and modernizations and extensions to audits and consulting. Planned maintenance and inspection Siemens services cover all required overhauls and condition assessments for fault-free switchgear operation. Maintenance serves to monitor your equipment and increase its wear-and-tear reserve, which maintains or even improves its reliability. Our services are predefined according to manufacturer recommendations, but can be flexibly adapted to individual requirements. We offer timeand condition-based maintenance. Time-based maintenance follows the OEM s recommended time schedule of regular service visits to ensure the reliable operation of your equipment. Condition-based maintenance is a process-driven measure that is triggered when a critical condition or deteriorating performance of an asset is indicated. Repair services and spare parts Repair measures aim to quickly return your equipment to a functional condition. In addition to regular inspections during maintenance services, Siemens offers extended diagnostics and condition assessments to enhance asset management and maintenance strategies. Standard audits is a standardized approach that includes information gathering, visual inspections, and extended diagnostics. The results are displayed in user-friendly and well-structured reports that can be used immediately by asset management decision makers. Offline condition assessments focus on in-depth equipment checkups, including analysis, measurements, functional tests, and electrical and mechanical health checks. Certified service engineers record failures on-site and provide recommendations for the necessary measures. 5

Condition assessment and diagnostics This makes it possible to precisely detect the transformer s current condition and classify its operational reliability for all makes and models and all voltage and power levels. Especially after extraordinary events like thunderstorms and lightning, relocations, and similar occurrences, comprehensive testing including on-site high-voltage testing is recommended. Online monitoring is available at three levels, from component monitoring to monitoring of individual transformers to comprehensive fleet monitoring. Consulting, expertise, and training This service provides you with solid consulting on repairing or replacing your transformers and investing to maintain their value regardless of their age or manufacturer. On the basis of a detailed survey, we prepare an action plan with recommendations, if applicable, for each transformer depending on its individual condition and operational importance. Maintenance and lifecycle extension These services minimize the unavoidable, undetectable, and ongoing aging processes taking place inside your transformers. Our stationary and continuous oil drying system as well as the regeneration of the oil filling completes our offerings for improving cooling efficiency with intelligent devices and hermetic sealing which can easily be integrated as retrofit solutions. Spare parts and accessories We recommend the critical spare parts you need to meet your specific requirements. In the process, we will evaluate different product alternatives and provide advice on up-todate replacement solutions. This is especially important if the original equipment manufacturers are no longer in existence. Repairs and retrofit Siemens offers complete repair as good as new and modification of power transformers of any brand and any age. On-site repairs can be nearly as good as in-house factory repairs. Mobile workshops require considerable setup, but the expense is usually outweighed by the excessive downtime and transport costs that would otherwise be absorbed by system operators. 6

We service cables with synthetic insulation (for example, XLPE) of various designs (up to 500 kv), low-pressure oil-filled cables (up to 400 kv), and gas-pressure cables (up to 110 kv). Cable assessments and fault location Knowing the condition of your assets reduces the risk of unexpected downtimes. Water trees (humidity infiltrated into the insulation), aging, harsh environments, and mechanical stress can all cause severe damage. Cable assessments precisely locate areas of degradation and enable us to initiate corrective actions before a cable fails. On the other hand, if a failure occurs, precise fault location enables us to undertake corrective measures immediately, which minimizes recovery time and extra costs. Siemens uses approved detection methods for installed high- and medium-voltage cables, namely partial discharge (PD) diagnostics, dissipation factor (tan δ) measurement, and frequency domain reflectometry (FDR). The FDR method is based on line resonance analysis (LIRA) developed by Wirescan. Transport, installation, and commissioning Siemens specialists have decades of experience in installing and starting up new units and relocating transformers that are already in service.
