MEIE3159: Thermofluids (Industrial Eng.) MCTE4230: Thermal Sciences (Mechatronics) In addition to the elective courses offered by the group. Serve in committees in charge of curriculum development and design of degree plan as the focal point in charge of thermofluid courses. Serve in accreditation committees in charge of coordinating course assessment and setting performance indicators for thermofluid courses. 3.3.1 Course reforms In addition to coordinating reforms in the Thermofluids Focus Group, I personally reformed the following core courses in a way that conforms to ABET accreditation standards and ensures better integration in the curriculum: 1. 3.3.2 Course development Developed a postgraduate course and two elective courses: 1. MEIE6142: Advanced Solar Thermal Processes A postgraduate course addressing the use of solar thermal systems starting from solar calculations and calculation of harvesting potential to solar thermal engineering application and simulation. The course material and textbook has already been ordered and material being prepared to be taught in Fall 2016. MEIE5142: Solar Thermal Processes A lighter version of MEIE6142 and is intended as a departmental elective for undergraduate students to be offered in the same session as MEIE6142. 2. MEIE5147: Energy Conservation and Management An undergraduate departmental elective course on energy conservation and management. It was offered Spring 2012. Energy audit equipments are being acquired to be added as a practical addition to the course. 3.3.3 Lab development Developing experimental setup and acquiring computing software on alternative energy. In charge of planning and equipping Renewable Energy Lab which will be within the upcoming College expansion, Engineering Building (Block D). Updating Thermodynamics Lab by acquiring new equipment with additional educational features. Developed lab experiment manual for Heat Transfer course. 3.4 Curriculum Review and Accreditation A member in the Continuous Assessment and Evaluation Committee for the Mechanical Engineering Program (CAEC ME) since September 2013 to present. In charge of thermofluids courses assessment and preparation for ABET accreditation. Served in the Department Curriculum and Accreditation Committee (DCAC) from September 2009 to August 2013. Updating degree plans and curriculum especially Thermofluids courses. A member of the ad hoc committee in charge of reviewing the offering, processing and regulations of Final Year Projects. Participated in the preparation of the Self Assessment Report while preparing for ABET accreditation. 3.5 Teaching Management The Leader of the Thermofluids Focus Group since September 2012 to present. In charge of coordinating final year project (FYP) course in the Academic Year 2011 2012. Developed a software tool that extracts complete statistics from students transcripts and outputs the expected demand of seats in each course and courses that are demanded by same number of students to avoid simultaneous scheduling.
