The verification shall be performed annually and this document is valid for 18 months from the date of signing. 1

Ways to Verify the Extra Requirements This checklist shall be used to verify KRAV s extra requirements in chapter 16 for the type of production mentioned above. A prerequisite is that the operator is certified according to Regulation (EC) 834/2007 or to equivalent production rules in accordance with Article 33 in (EC) 834/2007. The product shall always be accompanied by a valid EU-certificate. You will find more information about KRAVs extra requirements at our webpage: www.krav.se/how-suppliers-can-fulfill-kravs-extra-requirements, and the KRAV Standards at: www.krav.se/krav-standards The checklist shall be filled in and signed either by: 1. A person working as auditor at a certification body accredited for organic certification. or 2. A person with experience from auditing according to standards for organic production or social responsibility, assigned by a KRAV-certified importer. It must be done by a person outside the company that is being audited. KRAV has verification agreements with a number of certification bodies that can offer verification of KRAVs Extra Requirements, although any accredited Certification Body can use the checklists. You will find a list of certification bodies with verification agreements here: www.krav.se/how-suppliers-can-fulfill-kravs-extra-requirements The Operator must not use the KRAV-label, or state that the production is KRAV-certified. He or she can only state that KRAV s extra requirements in chapter 16 (for the type of production that the checklist covers) have been verified. The checklist is only valid as verification when all extra requirements are fulfilled. When asked for, the verification notes under each question, must be filled in. 16.8.1 Extra Requirements for All Animal Products Fulfilled Not fulfilled Withdrawal Period for Veterinary Medicinal Products If veterinary medicinal products are used that have an approved withdrawal period of zero days, then a withdrawal period of 48 hours must be applied. 16.8.8 Extra Requirements for Poultry Meat Natural Behaviour Hens and chickens must have access to sand baths. It can be outdoors if the soil is suitable and the animals can be outside every day. Exercise yards for chickens must not extend more than 150 meters from the barn. Grazing During the growing period, the poultry must have access to pasture during most of the day. Poultry can be kept inside during the night. Temporary indoor periods are permitted in the following cases: illness, severe insect infestation, extreme weather, or a maximum of two weeks before slaughter. Feed Self-sufficiency At least 50% of the feed must be produced on the keeper s farm or in cooperation with one or more other organic farms. Feed can also be produced and sold to a feed supplier and bought from the supplier. If cooperation with other organic farmers takes place, those who grow feed must receive the corresponding amount of manure from the livestock operation. Mutilations Beak trimming is prohibited. 3

16.8.4 Extra Requirements for Slaughter Fulfilled Not fulfilled All handling including transport in connection with slaughter must be carried out calmly and with dignity and with a minimum of physical and psychic stress for the animals. There must be live inspection by a veterinarian of animals that are to be KRAV-labelled. Animal carcasses or animals during live inspection observed to have been subject to deficient animal protection cannot be labelled. Established groups of animals must be kept together during transport, barn boarding and stunning. Separate animal groups must be kept apart, so that they do not worry each other. During waiting periods animals must be given adequate amounts of roughage and access to water. Animals natural behaviour must be made use of while herding them, for example by keeping a group together, allowing animals to go from dark to light and to follow a leader animal. Use of electric prods is prohibited. Each animal must be stunned before slaughter and the effect of stunning must be checked for each individual animal. This must be done immediately after stunning and before bleeding. 4

Social Responsibility in Primary Production The production is situated in a country where policies on social justice are included in national legislation, and are exempt from the documentation requirement. (The exempted areas and countries are the European Union, EEA, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.) The operator has less than 10 employees, and are exempt from the documentation requirement. The operator is certified according to a KRAV recognized standard for social responsibility or evaluated according to a KRAV recognized system for supplier evaluation. (Certificate or corresponding document shall be enclosed.) If any of the conditions above are fulfilled, you do not have to fill in the checklist for social responsibility below. 16.4 Social Responsibility Checklist Fulfilled Not fulfilled 16.4.2 Products cannot be KRAV-certified if there are human rights violations or clear cases of social injustice associated with the production. 16.4.3 The operator may not employ forced or involuntary labour 16.4.4 The operator must treat employees equally, provide the same opportunities to all and not act in a discriminating manner. 16.4.5 The operator must make it possible for underage employees to attend school 16.4.6. Employees must have the opportunity to organize and the right to collective bargaining 5

Detailed Information on Non-Compliances If any of the extra requirements are not fulfilled, please describe what s deviating. If appropriate, you are encouraged to make recommendations on possible measures. This may be useful information for the operator and the KRAV-certified importer.
