Contract No. 400029/4/I-LG - 3074. Summary In the past month, nearly all syntheses were complete. We still do experience a handful of decompression errors on a daily basis, but the impact is minimized since the last update of the DIF processing component. One synthesis shows a large gap, four a medium gap; all other syntheses have negligible gaps. In this reporting period, no transfer frame files were missing. An update of the Processing Facility component was released in this reporting period. This upgrade minimizes the amount of data discarded if there are inaccurate quaternion values. These could cause large pixel displacements, typically occurring when the platform is not yet stable from a platform manoeuvre. On 28/08/205, the public release of the geotiff format was announced. In the past 3 months, VITO has generated the GeoTIFF format for all products in all resolutions on disk for period July 204 up until now. Also, a new release of the PDF distribution portal was released on 5/09/205, which included some bug fixes and the INSPIRE compliancy of the PROBA-V metadata. Furthermore, a new release of the PF module is planned in order to generate the daily % of missing pixels for each product. This percentage will be embedded in future reporting. There were no issues with the image quality during this reporting period, both for radiometric as geometric quality. 2. Deep convective clouds interband calibration results are given in Figure 4. For all SWIR strips (except for Right SWIR 3, which was updated with 2.8 % in February 205) a decreasing trend in the observed radiances is visible in the Libya-4 results. In order to reduce uncertainties in proposed updates for the absolute calibration coefficients for the different SWIR strips, a trend analysis was also performed on desert calibration results obtained over seven different desert sites i.e. Libya, Libya2, Libya3, Libya4, Niger, Niger2 and Niger3. The median % decrease over all these desert sites was used to determine the % percentage update for the absolute calibration parameters. These are listed in Table 3. Vignetting analysis on the different SWIR strips have been set-up over a set of desert sites. Preliminary results indicate some slight strip non-uniformity at the edge of the Center SWIR3, Left SWIR3, Left SWIR2, Left SWIR and Right SWIR strip and at the center of Right SWIR and Center SWIR3. These non-uniformities are small (< 3 %). The exact quantification of the non-uniformities and the retrieval of equalization coefficients to correct for it, requires some further analysis in order to properly discriminate between instrument induced non-uniformities and BRDF or site related effects. Figure X shows an increasing trend, from just below 50 m at 6/8 to ~65 m at 5/9. On top of this trend, two peak periods occurred with values of 82 m (/9) and 78 m (7/9). The daily standard deviation values increased rather sharply from 45 50 m (5/8 20/8) to generally 70 75 m in the remaining period. The cause of this increase is currently being investigated. The geometric accuracy was within the requirement of < 300 m, with an average compliance of > 99.3%. Daily values were > 99.7% for all channels from 6/8 20/8. From 2/8 onwards, daily values decreased. Especially for the BLUE, RED, and NIR channels, values became well below 99.5% (minimum value 98.9% at 7/9 for the BLUE channel). The SWIR channel remained stable at values around 99.8%. Geometric ICP file PROBA-V_D5_MOR-02_205-09_v.0 Monthly Operations Report Page 5 of 9
