The Challenge: Outdated Candidate Experience and Recruiter Workflow Over the past fifteen years, New Balance has grown substantially; attributing its success to an ongoing commitment to its core values of integrity, teamwork, and total customer satisfaction. As a manufacturer and retailer of multiple products, New Balance found it cumbersome to recruit manually, especially for its three different hiring types: corporate, manufacturing, and retail. With a dated career site that featured an email address as the primary online recruiting option, New Balance worried the candidate experience might suffer. Furthermore, the recruiters struggled to respond to each inquiry and subsequently had difficulty building an engaged talent pool. In addition, recruiters had trouble managing walk-in job inquiries at their retail and warehouse locations as many candidates lacked formal resumes. As a brand that treats its candidates like its customers and truly values the candidate experience, this would not do. The Solution Initially we thought the ATS vendors who were most well-known in the industry was the way to go, said Dan Benson, New Balance s Manager of Professional Staffing. We realized icims really understands what retail and manufacturing companies are going through, and their ideas around system ease-of-use, flexibility, and customer service made so much sense for our mid-market business needs. Some of the bigger companies out there seemed to over-complicate the entire process, but icims was the perfect fit. The Challenge: No Flexibility to Maximize Recruitment Initiatives Similar to most healthcare organizations, Hospital for Special Surgery was faced with the challenges associated with high-volume recruitment for a wide variety of positions including everything from highly specialized surgeons to clerical workers and administrative staff. As HSS continued to grow as a leader in orthopedics, it became increasingly difficult for recruiters to manage the high volume of resumes while identifying the most qualified candidates. During an average week, HSS recruiters could expect to receive at least 200 paper applications for any given job posting. HSS needed to automate their inefficient manual processes to better identify their most qualified talent while also maintaining their unique recruitment practices. The Solution After analyzing their organizational needs, Hospital for Special Surgery sought a great deal of functionality within a single technology. In addition to streamlining inefficient processes, HSS wanted a solution to help maximize their talent management initiatives to enhance both their candidate experience and employment brand. As a former icims user at another healthcare organization, Kori Clemmer, HRIS Manager at Hospital for Special Surgery, had experience leveraging the icims Talent Platform. Following protocol, Kori researched several talent acquisition providers before ultimately choosing icims once again. The Challenge: Lack of Collaboration within the HR Department The Jamba Juice brand was rapidly expanding across the United States, and the company needed to hire thousands of new employees to keep up with the expansion. As the company continued to open additional store locations, Jamba Juice s HR department found it increasingly difficult to maintain its manual recruitment processes. Hiring managers and recruiters were being weighed down by disjointed paper-based processes, making it extremely difficult to track applicants, job openings, and related paperwork. Amanda Watchel, Recruiting Manager at Jamba Juice, explained, The processes were not efficient at all. We were paper-based, with excel spreadsheets, and file folders. Such antiquated methods resulted in issues of miscommunication, inefficiency in the hiring processes, and lost productivity. In addition, Jamba Juice has a very intensive new hire training program. Regional training managers found it exceedingly difficult to effectively onboard these new hires and then adequately track and report on their progress.
