The objective of the EGTC is to facilitate and promote between its members, the cross-border cooperation, so-called in the future " territorial cooperation", with the exclusive to aim of strengthening economic and social cohesion.

DUERO - DOURO EGTC AGREEMENT II Clause of the Agreement: DUERO-DOURO EGTC OBJECTIVES: To facilitate and to promote the cross-border, transnational and interregional cooperation [...], with the main objective to reinforce the social and economic cohesion. To execute and to manage contracts and agreements and to develop every action which allow them to profit from new financial national, regional or local instruments from Spain and Portugal, with or without European Community financing. To implement territorial cooperation programmes and projects co-financing by the European Union, (in particular, in charge of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the European Social Fund (ESF) and/or the Cohesion Fund. To execute specific territorial cooperation programmes actions. To act within functions that its members require according to the EC 1082/2006 Regulation. V Clause of the Agreement: DUERO-DOURO EGTC ACTIVITIES: Creation and management of new sources, social services and infrastructures (carrying out public works, common management of facilities and public interest services). Research, Innovation and Development promotion. Study of development of current infrastructure and health services (with a proposal for joint action). Creation and management: Rural employment programme. Action Plan for conservation and sustainable economic development of protected natural areas. Communication and information net. Tourism plan. Interconnection plan all participating entities to ensure equality. Specific plan for implementation of value and cultural heritage resources. Plan for business creation and improved competitiveness Specific plan for modernization of Local Administration. And those in the art. 1.2 of EGTC Regulation and in the art. 6 of the ERDF.
