Pioneering sustainability in the microfiber production. CEO Lorenzo Terraneo Established in 1997, Miko S.r.l. is the Italian company which produces Dinamica, the first ecological microfiber of high performance for many sectors of application. Also quoted in the Eurispes Report 2008 among the best Italian Excellence, Miko is partner of Asahi Kasei, a leading Japanese company, which provides the raw base for the production of Dinamica. In the past years Miko, which started as a producer of non-woven fabrics for the furniture sector, has broadened its product range to respond to the demands of other areas of application including the automotive sector. Today, internal car coverings constitute the 90% of Miko s production and represent a strong growing market. Today, although internal car coverings constitute the main sector of use for Dinamica, Miko is active also in the aeronautical, furnishing and contract, marine and fashion sectors. In 2015, Miko was acquired by Sage Automotive Interior, one of the world s leading providers of automotive bodycloth with headquarters in South Carolina (U.S.). In May 2004, Miko obtained the quality management system certification ISO/TS 16949 which proves that the company s process is the most updated quality management system within the car industry. This is the latest step taken on the path of quality control which Miko began in 1999 when it achieved the standards for UNI EN ISO 9002:1994 and furthermore in 2004 obtaining the UNI EN ISO 9001. Moreover, in order to improve its environmental performance, Miko has met all the requirements of the UNI EN ISO 14001 standard in July 2005. This certification is the best internationally recognized referral dealing with environmental management systems: it guarantees that the system is according with all sector s rules and laws and also company s commitment to continually improve its environmental politics and performances.
Dinamica is unique. It takes you into a new realm, which is exclusive, elegant, beautiful, charming, able to provide pure emotions. Dinamica is more than what you see. It is the spendid part of you. Naturally different. Dinamica does not use solvents, but employs non-toxic methods and a waterbased manufacturing cycle. The microfiber is immersed in a bath of water-borne polyurethane, to which - in contrast with normal manufacturing cycles - no solvents harmful to the health and environment have been added. This process compacts the fibers, conferring properties of elasticity and resistance. Furthermore, the use of neutral, nontoxic dyes and recycled polyester is a further guarantee of the natural approach adopted respecting the health and the environment. Dinamica is the ecological suede made from recycled polyester that ensures a low level of polluting emissions and energy consumption during production. The recycled polyester contained in Dinamica derives from polyester fibres (T-shirts, fibres, etc.) and PET (bottles, plastic, etc.). Recycling polyester means reducing energy consumption and CO 2 emissions into the atmosphere by 80% compared to the traditional petrol-based polyester production process. The production of Dinamica uses an exclusive water-based process developed by Asahi Kasei and a water-based needle punching process which does not damage the fibers. Dinamica is designed for easy disposal, and is 100% recyclable at the end of its useful life. The eco-suede for people who respect the world in which they live. As evidence of Miko s commitment to the environment, Miko won the Italian Environmental Business Award 2011 as Best Product of the Year, while in July 2013 the company was awarded as National Champion for Italy in the 2013/14 European Business Awards and selected by the jury to run for The Millicom Award for Environmental & Corporate Sustainability category.

In July 2012, Dinamica Auto obtained the EPD certification. This step has laid the basis of a bigger project that was completed in 2013 with the EPD Process Certification.
