He will discuss how in order to achieve success it is vital the role of the CSO evolves in line with the ever-changing business and technology landscape. CSO's who fall behind, or fail to adapt, risk falling behind leaders who expand to focus on long-term goals and participate in digital ecosystems. Digital revolution is over. It s no longer a novelty but a normalcy and irreplaceable part of life. Checking your emails/social etc as you wake up is the new normal, and we re not even the generation that was born into the internet age. But when it comes to digital evolution, we haven t even hit the dinosaur era. As the speed of progress rapidly accelerates, how do traditional news companies such as CNN remain relevant? Putting a strategy function on an organizational chart is a great indicator that your organization believes strategy is a critical component in building financial value. However, are they committed to fully leveraging a strategy group and executing accordingly? Positioning an internal strategy group within an organization is critical to ensure that initiatives, long-term plans, and operational decisionmaking properly diagnose, exploit, and measure opportunities. Application of lessons in managerial and organizational behavior demonstrates how managing across company lines is as important as recruiting and cultivating talent with the strategy function.

Mark will also explore how this has led to changes for the Chief Strategy Officer based on his own experiences. In this presentation Benji will discuss the importance of creating customer-focused strategies, both for new and existing customers. Key points include refocusing the core business product to make sure these are in line with the target market, so having a clear idea what this is, eliminating products that do not fit and adding products which may have been missing before. Aligning corporate and brand strategies: Simple, yet difficult. Why? Most organizations do a solid job of laddering up (or down) corporate and brand strategies into short and longer term plans. They engage leadership in developing goals that align with those strategies and then they set about executing. And if all of that is right, then why do many organizations not recognize the desired outcomes of those efforts? For some, partial blame can be placed on outdated strategic planning processes that have not caught up to turbulent times. For others, the strategy room stops with a battle plan, not an organization strategic engagement plan. At Jack Inc the focus includes a deeper dive on the brands ability to ignite and sustain strategic intent from the front-line employee up, not the CEO or brand president down. In this session Mark will discuss how Jack drives strategic alignment, engagement and execution across the organization s eco-system.

Technology is blurring the distinctions between companies and industries. Companies who were created before the internet are looking to partner with those born after. He will explain, from his experience how to navigate these partnerships so both parties have the best possible experience. At a time where Big-data and analytics are at the top of the corporate agenda, it is important that leaders should invest time in working out a clear vision of how this should impact the desired impact the business model. Data sourcing, implementation and eventually organization transformation should all be predetermined so everyone within the company knows what they are working towards. In this presentation, Paul will discuss the challenges of transforming strategy into execution in the face of disruptive market forces.

Developing Movement-Wide Strategy While not every company has the deep pockets and endless resources of, say, Google or Tesla, a savvy CSO recognizes that innovation is imperative both inside and outside of a company s core product line. David s session will touch on identifying risk/reward of innovation initiatives, instituting successful innovation models, balancing resources and ultimately figuring out how to measure return on those initiatives. In short, he ll discuss how to determine which innovation initiatives whether tangential moonshots or flagship product dev cycles are worth your while in a lean, agile modern business. This role is nascent in health care. At the speed of change in health care, the very specialized critical skills, aptitude and abilities of a CSO are essential. The need for the role, who is best suited to fill the role and what should be expected from a high-performing CSO will be discussed. Health care organizations are among the most complicated and CEOs are dealing regulatory, political, changes in the economy and market pressures the likes of which have not been experienced. The CSO brings analytical critical thinking, financial acumen, business development and keeps guard of the long term horizon such as market trends. Sofina will discuss the challenges of implementing a nation wide strategy in her presentation.

This was the first brand Starwood launched since 2008 and it was a response to changing market dynamics driven primarily by changing customer preferences and fast-growing shared-economy offerings through companies like AirBnB. During this session, Albert will focus on how the idea of launching Tribute Portfolio was initiated and developed as a strategic next step of growth for Starwood One of the biggest technological buzzwords of the past decade has been the "cloud", but very few people actually understand what this is. In this talk Martin will focus on how cloud computing has been revolutionary to data management, but also how this is driving real technological innovation. The talk will delve deeper into how cloud technology is driving real innovation for organisations in areas such as service automisation, business model innovation & application of data insight.
