1. Purpose This document is aimed at specifying requirements for supplier s quality system which products or service that will be provided to Korea Aerospace Industries(hereinafter referred to KAI ). 2. Scope of application 2.1 Application a.this specification shall apply when incorporated by reference in contract or purchase order between KAI and supplier which provides products or service. b.where any requirement(s) of this document cannot be applied due to the nature of supplier and its product, this can be considered for exclusion. Where exclusions are made, such exclusions do not affect the Supplier s ability, or responsibility, to provide product that meets customer and applicable regulatory requirements. 2.2 Relationship with other requirements. Supplier shall comply with all contract requirements and have responsibility to supply the products which conform to the requirements. When conflicts between this requirement and contract requirement, the contract requirement shall take precedence. 2.3 Effectiveness of revised requirements a.the supplier who does not meet the requirements of this specification, shall notify KAI with document form and discuss with KAI. b.when this requirements are revised after the previous version is in effective, the supplier shall follow the revised requirements based on the cost is not effected and may flow down to supplier s sub-contractor. c.in case that the supplier will follow the revised requirements, the supplier shall notify KAI of the decision with document form and then, the supplier shall apply the revised requirements to its products or service. 3. Definitions 4.1 Supplier All companies which provide products or service to KAI. According to which products or service is provided, supplier class is divided from class 1 supplier through class 11 supplier. 4.2 Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) A document that describes all quality assurance activities to meet contractual requirements for delivered products or service. It is consisted with quality system section and inspection section for the requirements of drawings and specifications. It should be written based on the nature of delivered products or service. 4.3 Supplier Quality Assurance Specification (QAS) A specification that describes supplier quality assurance requirements and it can be referred to KAI Web-site http://epro.koreaaero.com Page 4 of 8
4.4 DPD (Digital Product Definition) The electronic data elements that specify the geometry and all design requirements for a product (including notation and parts lists), and the use of this data throughout an integrated CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) and CMS(Coordinate Measurement Systems). 5. General Requirements 5.1 Approval of Quality system Supplier shall establish and maintain an effective quality system that complies with this document requirements in order to provide their products and service to KAI and be approved by KAI. 5.2 Additional Quality Assurance Requirements In addition to the provisions provided in this document, the Supplier shall also comply with the following quality assurance requirement; a. Quality Assurance/Inspection & Test requirements noted on applicable design specifications. - For example, drawings, special process, and material specifications b. Quality Assurance requirements under the regulations of applicable government and noted on the contractual documents 5.3 Corrective Actions When KAI issues an written corrective action, supplier shall provide response to the corrective action request within the due date. 5.4 Entry of right KAI and/or KAI customer shall be afforded the right to verify conformity of the Supplier quality system or verify the product in accordance with the specified requirements at the Supplier premises and/or the supplier s premises. a. Upon request, the quality records, equipment, or personnel shall be made available to KAI and/or KAI customer for operation of equipment and other support as deemed necessary. b. Verification by KAI and/or the KAI customer shall not absolve the Supplier of the responsibility to provide acceptable product. 5.5 Periodic Audit Unless otherwise specified requirements, KAI-approved supplier shall acknowledge that KAI reserves the right to audit or monitor the quality system, no less than once a year, during the life of the contract. At KAI discretion, the supplier that complies to the followings may be subjected to survey by every three-year. a. Certified as AS 9100 Quality Management System or KDS 0050-9000 Quality Management System b. Complies with the requirements of KAI required Quality System - The 3 rd party registrar 5.6 Cancellation of Quality System Approval Page 5 of 8
When the supplier comes under the following conditions, KAI has the right to cancel the approval of KPQMS 9100 for the supplier without any notice. a. In case major nonconformance is found in the product and/or services, at KAI discretion, if the supplier is not able to comply with the specified requirements b. If the business with KAI has ceased for two years c. If the quality system audit is not performed on purpose annually without written approval of KAI or the supplier has refused or has not performed any proper action without an acceptable reason when corrective is requested by KAI. 5.7 Responsibilities of Supplier a. When it comes under the following conditions, the supplier shall notify an written letter within 7 days. - When it is discovered that a discrepant product has already been delivered and/or has been shipped in suspect. - Cancellation or Suspension of the issued Certificate by the 3 rd party registrar b. The supplier shall assure that the accepted product delivery to KAI including all products purchased from KAI-designated sources. c. The inspection status of the product shall be identified by authorized stamps on the product itself or tags, labels, packaging, manufacturing plans, inspection records and other suitable means. - The final acceptance of all deliverable products shall be identify using authorized stamp on the products or the quality shipping document. 6. Quality System requirements Quality system requirements are as followings and detail information shall be referred to applicable Web site per paragraph 3. For military program case, the required system is KDS 0050-9000, Quality Management System for domestic supplier, if necessary, AS 9100, Quality Management System-Aerospace requirement can be applied as alternate. When DPD(Digital Product definition) is required for production, KAI may request to add DPD (Digital product Definition) quality system requirement. The requirements of these paragraphs shall be applied multiply when more than two classes are provided to KAI. 6.1 KPQMS 9100 Class 1 supplier Supplier who manufactures major structure assembly (for example: Wing/Fuselage assembly, Tailboom assembly) and required quality system is AS 9100. The supplier shall submit QAP to KAI in 30 days after contract. Required QAS(as minimum) are as QAS-1301, QAS-1601, QAS-1603, QAS -2201. 6.2 KPQMS 9100 Class 2 supplier Page 6 of 8
Supplier who manufactures LRU(Line Replaceable Unit) which is final assembly form and functional item (for example: Engine, Landing gear, Hydraulic manipulation, Airborne electric system) and required quality system is AS 9100. 6.3 KPQMS 9100 Class 3 supplier Supplier who manufactures detail part or minor assembly (for example: Sheet-metal/Machining/ Composite part, sub-assembly) and required quality system is AS 9100. The supplier shall submit QAP to KAI in 30 days after contract. Required QAS(as minimum) are as QAS-0501, QAS-0801, QAS-0901, QAS-0902, QAS-1001, QAS-1002, QAS-1301, QAS-1303, QAS-1602, QAS-1603, QAS-1801, QAS-2201. 6.4 KPQMS 9100 Class 4 supplier Supplier who manufactures raw materials, consumables and standard fasteners (for example: Sheet/ Plate/Extrusion, Composite material/paint/adhesive, Bolt/Nut/Rivet) and required quality system is AS 9100 or ISO 9001. 6.5 KPQMS 9100 Class 5 supplier Supplier who proceeds limited operations (for example: Surface treatment/bonding/painting, Sawing) and required quality system is AS 9100(for special processor), ISO 9001(for simple operation processor like sawing) and submittal of QAP is not necessary. Minimum required QAS are as QAS-1301, QAS-1303, QAS-1603, QAS-2201. 6.6 KPQMS 9100 Class 6 supplier Shall be applied to distributor and required quality system is AS 9120. 6.7 KPQMS 9100 Class 7 supplier Supplier who delivers software end item or as part of a deliverable software-supported product that is either designed or modified to meet KAI requirements. Required quality system is AS 9006 or CMMI Level 3 or higher. The supplier shall submit QAP to KAI in 30 days after contract. 6.8 KPQMS 9100 Class 8 supplier Supplier who manufactures Integrated Logistics Support(Non Airborne), Tooling (for example: Ground Support/Test Equipment, Assembly Jig, Detail part tool) and required quality system is ISO 9001. 6.9 KPQMS 9100 Class 9 supplier Supplier who provides maintenance, repair and overhaul(for example: Engine/Fuselage repair) and required system is AS 9110. The supplier shall submit QAP to KAI in 30 days after contract. 6.10 KPQMS 9100 Class 10 supplier Supplier who provides testing, calibration (for example: Environmental/Specimen test, calibration service) and required quality system is ISO/IEC 17025. The supplier shall be approved by KOLAS (Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme) or a certification body which is approved by the applicable country accreditation or it s equivalent quality system proven by with objective evidence. In military program case, the domestic supplier can be included DTaQ(Defense Agency for Technology and Quality) approved source for test service. Page 7 of 8
6.11 KPQMS 9100 Class 11 supplier Supplier who provides equipment/facility, one-time process or man-power (foe example: Seller of production equipment/facility, Temporary process with KAI instruction, Man-power service) and required quality system is none. But additional contract requirements could be applied to supplier in accordance with products, process, service which are required. Page 8 of 8
