Dachs Professional Your Declaration of Independence.
2 Not owning your own building means paying rent. Not owning a Dachs means paying for electricity.
As a Dachs owner you generate your own electricity! The Dachs. The most widely sold micro CHP in Europe. Dimensions: 72 x 107 x 100 cm 3
The Dachs operates in the same way as a commercial vehicle... An extremely durable engine is coupled to a high performance generator. The generator supplies up to 45,000 kwh of electricity per year, and like a vehicle heat amounting to 100,000 kwh per year is captured from the engine cooling system and used to heat the occupants. The concept is known as "combined heat and power", CHP or micro-cogeneration. 4
but enjoys the status of a company car. Like a company car, you can choose to finance the cost of the Dachs from the energy savings it generates. There's hardly a more cost-effective way to optimise your energy use. 5
The principle is simple. The generator gives you electricity The 80 kg, practically maintenance-free generator supplies electricity making you less dependent on external suppliers. 40 kilos of copper, tool steel cogwheels, thick-walled cast iron casing all designed for optimum performance in continuous operation. 6
and the Engine provides you with heat. The cooling water system of the engine produces the same thermal output as a typical domestic boiler. The heat generated in this way is your additional gain. 7
8... huge heat losses...
All power plants require cooling systems, even the Dachs. The price you pay your supplier for electricity also includes the cost of energy that you do not receive two thirds of your electricity bill pays for the heat that is dumped by cooling towers. The entire heat requirements of the population of a country like Germany, for example, could be met twice with the amount of heat that is lost as a by-product when generating electricity in large power plants. However, the Dachs does not waste heat. The heat produced from generating electricity does not vaporise into the environment, but is used to heat rooms, domestic water or swimming pools for example. Up to 10 micros make a maxi: A Dachs multi module system can be operated more flexibly than an equivalent output larger unit. Activated in sequence, the Dachs can optimise our energy requirements and increase security of supply. 9

The Dachs always pays. Any site that requires heat and electricity should consider the Dachs... Take a look at this typical example from daily practical use. A hotel with electricity consumption of 70,000 kwh per year. Operating efficiency Surplus generated: Avoided electricity costs: 7000 h/a x 5.5 kw x 0.14 /kwh = 5,390 /a Avoided heating costs: 7000 h/a x 12.5 kw x 0.05 /kwh = 4,375 /a Total surplus = 9,765 /a Expense: Gas costs: 7000 h/a x 22.8 kw x 0.038 /kwh = 6,065 /a Full maintenance costs: 7000 h/a x 5.5 kw x 0.025 /kwh = 963 /a Total expense = 7,027 /a Cost of capital (15 years /5% interest) = 1,734 /a Static profit (surplus - expense) = 2,738 /a x 15 years = 41,065 Profit including cost of capital = 1,004 /a x 15 years = 15,053 Working in parallel with your boiler, the Dachs ensures that your heating system becomes a cost-effective energy centre. 11
If you are thinking two moves ahead, in future you will fill up your car with your boiler at home The electric car is coming. This is a certainty and is as sure as the increase in electricity costs. Shortly, the first electric cars will be in serial production. The big car manufacturers have foreseen that the automotive internal combustion engine will end by the year 2020. This means that if today you are 30 years old, you will be driving an electric car by the time you are 42 at the latest. According to the principle of supply and demand, this could mean that the electricity prices will increase even further (this would disadvantage the owner of heat pumps). It doesn t matter how you work it out. There is nothing more sensible than generating your own electricity. E.g. to fill up your car at your boiler and to use the free heat for heating your building and hot water supply. The green Dachs Filling socket Currently we don't need it, but it exists. And during the lifetime of a Dachs it will become indispensable. 12
Our 10,000th unit is an exhibit in the German Museum of Masterpieces of Technology. The Dachs incorporates things that have become a rarity today. - Craftsmanship instead of mass production - Screws instead of rivets - Steel instead of plastic. In the year 2010 around 25,000 Dachs owners will be largely independent of external electricity suppliers. 13
14
Your investment in the Dachs can be recovered within 5 years. It can save you a small fortune over 15 years. And what are 15 years to a Dachs... 15
A comparison of electricity costs over 15 years Basis of the graph: A hotel with energy consumption of 70,000 kwh per year. 100,000 100,248* 80,000 75,342* 60,000 40,000 Electricity Fuel + maintenance 20,000 Capital cost of Dachs 0 Electricity customers Dachs owners * incl. yearly price increase of 3% for fuel and electricity. Electricity consumers are paying for the investment others make in power plants rather than investing in their own. 16
Red are your costs, Black is your investment. The Dachs not only generates your electricity, but also reduces your energy costs by up to 50%. The energy market is a highly sensitive system dependent on uncontrollable global factors and is becoming increasingly hard to predict. Experience has shown however that costs only appear to fluctuate. In the long term, prices rise continually. Your own electricity supply with useful heat will keep your costs low, stable and transparent. And your environmental account is also in the black. A single Dachs reduces CO 2 emissions by an amount similar to that absorbed by 15,000 trees. As a Dachs owner you are helping to improve the global climate and are saving money by doing so. This positive CO 2 effect means that the fuel for the Dachs qualifies for full relief from Climate Change Levies in many countries around Europe. 17
Our life is the Dachs. SenerTec of Schweinfurt, Germany don t build any other engines. Only the Dachs. Made out of the best materials and manufactured in manual assembly lines, it will bring lots of satisfaction to the owner. We want the Dachs to work year after year in good condition, saving energy and earning money. And it will do all this if you look after it. A robust engine assembled from precision parts. Each part is easily accessible and where appropriate is simple to replace. The Dachs will never be part of any short-dated model policy and all parts will be available, even after many years. The Dachs is unique and will always stay unique. That's our definition of future proofing. 18
Peace of mind... A specialist company monitors and services your unit using state-of-the-art instruments. The stable, functionally safe programmes of the Dachs control system work automatically and reliably in the background, leaving its owner in peace. This module is also a true blessing for the fitter. It facilitates extremely fast commissioning, reliable diagnostics and exact maintenance. SenerTec works only with trained, customer-oriented partners who have earned recognition for their excellence of work. You don t need to take care of anything. 19
