FROM THE UK ARMED FORCES TO HSBC HSBC has a long history of employing ex-servicemen and women in the UK. Our commitment was further strengthened when we signed the Armed Forces Covenant with the Ministry of Defence in 2013. The Armed Forces Covenant sets out the relationship between the nation, the government and the armed forces. It recognises that the whole nation has a moral obligation to members of the armed forces and their families, and it establishes how they should expect to be treated. We understand that making the move from the armed forces to civilian life can be a bit of a culture shock. That s why we strive to make your transition to the bank as smooth as possible. We have a dedicated HSBC Military Network, an internal employee-led group of exservicemen and women, reservists and other militarysupporting employees who have all made a successful transition to HSBC and are a resource for you during the recruitment process, onboarding and beyond. HSBC UK Military Recruitment Scheme After serving in the military, working for a bank might not seem like the most obvious next step. However many of the skills you ve developed in the military are transferrable to a career in banking and financial services. Attributes such as confidence, communication, leadership, and the ability to make the right decisions under pressure are just what we are looking for. Military service also embeds deep personal values, integrity and high standards which are essential to success in HSBC. Our Military Recruitment Scheme offers military leavers and veterans six-month paid role from May 2018 within established teams across our global businesses and functions in the UK. During your time with us, you ll receive training, mentorship and networking, after which you may have the opportunity to redeploy within HSBC for another role. The Scheme is open to all military leavers and veterans, who have completed the initial military engagement period, and have the right to work in the UK. Applications open from November 2017 to February 2018, with offers made to successful candidates in April 2018. For more information, please email military.recruitment@hsbc.com

By joining HSBC, you ll be laying a secure foundation on which to build your career in banking and financial services. Our Values At HSBC we put great emphasis on our values open, dependable and connected. This is one of the reasons why ex-servicemen and women have gone on to have successful careers at HSBC. OUR APPROACH TO DIVERSITY We believe that diversity brings benefits for our customers, our business and our people. Our global workforce comprises employees representing 139 nationalities and collectively speaks 145 different languages. We want to be a place where all employees feel they can be themselves, regardless of gender, age, faith, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability and family responsibilities. In the UK we have a number of employee networks which cover these areas and are integral to helping us be an inclusive environment. We take pride in providing a workplace where employees are able to voice their concerns, and where opportunities and progression are achieved on merit. HSBC Military Network is an internal employee-led group providing support and social events for ex-servicemen and women and reservists. Business Disability Forum A not-for-profit member organisation that makes it easier and more rewarding to do business with and employ disabled people. Two Ticks Scheme We have received recognition from Jobcentre Plus as a result of our compliance with five commitments regarding the employment, retention, training and career development of disabled employees. As part of our commitment to supporting armed services leavers, we also work with UK charities that support injured servicemen and women in their transition to civilian life. We believe employees with disability make a huge contribution to HSBC. We focus on the ability they bring, not the limits of their condition. Alongside working with charities, we support internal initiatives and invest in external partnerships to provide an inclusive environment for military personnel and disabled colleagues: HSBC Ability Network is an internal employee-led group to help create a supportive environment for colleagues affected by disability, so they can get the help they need to perform at their best.
