WHAT THE STATE SAYS ABOUT CHOOSING A SUPPLIER For more than a decade now, millions of Ohioans have taken advantage of electric and natural gas choice. Energy choice allows consumers, from large industrial plants to residential households, the ability to shop for alternative rates on their electricity or natural gas supply. With energy choice, Ohio consumers can choose from a variety of offers and determine the plan that is right for them. Many Ohioans decide to shop in order to see savings off of their monthly energy bills, others value the certainty that comes from a fixed rate plan, and some switch to suppliers that will make a greater investment in renewable products. Source: http://www.energychoice.ohio.gov/pages/why%0switch.aspx CUSTOMER ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES Government Assistance Customers in Ohio who are enrolled with a third-party supplier through a government-based program may not be pursued by other third-party suppliers. Customers using Government Assistance or who are on a Percentage of Income Payment Program (PIPP) are not eligible to enroll with energy suppliers. AEP OHIO: Enrollments/switches may be rejected if the customer has been returned to AEP Ohio bundled service as a result of non-payment of CRES charges (if customer is in arrears). Customers may switch no more than once per billing cycle to a new CRES Provider. ENROLLMENT AND BILLING Explain the Process Before you approach a potential customer to enroll with Viridian, you ll first want to make sure you know how to explain enrollment. The following pages will help you become familiar with electric and natural gas utility bills. You ll see a utility bill sample and where to find the information the customer will need for enrollment. You ll also see a sample bill that shows what the customer s bill will look like after enrolling with Viridian. Comparing Rates Your customer will likely ask to see a rate-to-rate comparison. To help you in that conversation, Viridian will include the utility s comparison rate, or Price to Compare on the State Rate sheets, whenever possible. Please remember that any comparisons are strictly estimates, as Viridian s rates and the customer s usage could vary. FOLLOW COMPLIANCE GUIDELINES Familiarize yourself with Viridian s Marketing Do s and Don ts, as well as the Associate Policies & Procedures, to ensure you are enrolling your customers compliantly. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in disciplinary actions.
