The employee also oversees all teller functions and maintains branch cash limits, cross-sells services and products to customers. Trains and assists tellers accordingly. Performance of the duties requires excellent organization, problem solving, computer, and customer service skills. Also requires supervisory abilities. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the general operations and procedures of New Peoples Bank. Knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Knowledge of modern office equipment including copiers, personal computers, mainframe terminals, calculators, facsimile machines, etc. Knowledge of computer software and operations. Ability and experience in dealing with and counting money. Ability to operate teller terminal. Ability to deal with difficult customers and provide timely problem resolutions. Ability to supervise and exude leadership qualities. Ability to make mathematical computations with speed and accuracy. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to present ideas and information in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing. Ability to meet and deal tactfully and courteously with staff and general public. Job Title: Head Teller Page 2 Education and Experience: Graduated from an accredited high school or General Education Degree (GED), with 1-3 years of teller experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. Conditions of Employment: None Essential Functions: Receives and processes a variety of transactions for customers (i.e. checking, savings, loan payments, cash checks, etc.), maintaining vigilance with all items accepted. Greets customers and directs them to the appropriate staff member for assistance if outside scope of abilities. Provides assistance and knowledge to tellers on teller related issues and aids in problem resolution. Balances cash drawer and vault daily, providing currency and coin to tellers as requested. Answers telephones and assists customers with inquiries or transfers calls to appropriate staff member. Orders and ships currency through the FED weekly. Verifies monies received from Fed and other tellers and transfers currency and coin to and from vault. Opens night deposit vault, logging contents, and/or process transactions. Buys and sells currency or coin as needed to maintain cash limits and verifies strap currency for accuracy. Assists tellers in locating outages and correcting entries. Researches customer errors and provides corrective action in a prompt manner. Issues cashier checks, sells debit cards and orders or redeems savings bonds, setting up tax addenda s appropriately. Forwards emails daily to BSA department with cashier checks in excess of $3,000 information. Process and balance proof work. Completes daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required by the Audit department and policy. Accepts and processes safety deposit box payments daily and updates customer account accordingly. Processes cash advances and balance cash advance terminal, notifying Branch Manager of discrepancies. Completes CTR (Currency Transaction Report) and MI (Monetary Instrument) reports, verifying and approving other teller s information relative to the reports.
Job Title: Head Teller Page 3 Balances ATM and replenishes cash supply, envelopes, and receipt paper daily or as scheduled. Ensures ATM is working properly and notifies appropriate department of malfunctioning machine. Logs and processes subject to count deposits and incoming mail deposits, completing incoming and outgoing wire transfer documentation accurately. Assists self and tellers in reconciling errors or discrepancies and reconciles tellers, vault and ATM totals to the general ledger. Assigns tasks and duties to other tellers, ensuring adequate and efficient performance of duties. Collects and balances cash items and serves as sole controller of cashier checks and logging entries when disbursed to employees for issuance. Related Duties and Responsibilities Completes and conducts all teller related training and cross-training as requested. Verifies teller logs for accuracy. Completes holds and stop payment forms for checking and savings accounts as requested. Develops and completes monthly and quarterly reports as assigned by Branch Manager, bank and audit policy. Orders, verifies and distributes branch supplies and reorganizes work areas as needed. Assists customers with ATM issues and carries ATM beeper for maintenance required during non-banking hours. Reviews and provides decisions related to checks received by tellers, determining whether to place hold on account. Performs related duties and responsibilities as required and assigned. Be familiar with all security procedures and equipment. Provide work schedule and assign work duties to tellers. Process and monitor customer charge offs (accounts, other losses and charge offs, etc.) Maintain retention of bank documents as required by bank policy.
