LOW ENERGY SPENT WASH CONCENTRATION FOR GRAIN BASED DISTILLERY Presented by Team ROCHEM

ROCHEM INDIA - MISSION Changing the Face of Water & Waste Water Treatment!

The Challenge High to very High TSS in Spent wash Very Fine Particles High COD, less compare to molasses spent wash TDS quite low compare to molasses spent wash TDS post integrated evaporator is slightly high but still treatable through RO System

The Solution Need of the Hour Spent was need the treatment for removal of TSS and very fine particle Advance DAF is an answer to it. Concentrate spent wash volume at lowest energy input cost i.e. ROCHEM PT RO. Maximum Resource Conservation (Water Re-use) Concentrated spent wash can be further concentrated through evaporator and dryer for solidification of TDS.

Why the solution was not implemented yet Due to absence technology which can offer proven results. Due to non availability of commercial scale plant/pilot plant to check treatability study. Evaporator route was working fine although it was an expensive affair. ROCHEM s Advance DAF is an answer to all the above.

GEM System ROCHEM in exclusive Technical collaboration with Clean Water Technology USA, brings CWT's innovative flocculation and floatation unit is a unique approach and feed TSS reduction in cases with small and light TSS with high loads such as in the Distillery sector for Grain & Molasses based effluents. The Gas Energy Mixing (GEM) System can generate better results, handle a much greater contaminant loading, adapt to flow changes and produce much drier solids with a much smaller footprint and using less chemicals than typical DAF systems. Confidential

Confidential GEM System

GEM SYSTEM Bubble Attachment Method Gas is dissolved into 100% of the stream first. Gas is homogeneously mixed into the waste water before floc structure is formed. The dissolved gas comes in contact with the particles before it even becomes a bubble. The smaller the bubble the smallest particles will be attached. Confidential

Bubble Attachment Method More Bubbles Smaller Bubbles Better Bubbles & Better Results Confidential

Results on Grain Based spentwash after Decanter Possible to Install RO now with >70% Recovery!

The Scheme Spent was from Distillery Advance DAF for Removal of TSS ROCHEM PT RO (low cost spent wash concentration) Evaporator + Dryer (solidification) Detail Techno Commercial Case Study can be prepared on case to case basis depending upon geographical tertiary.

Concerns / limitations of Distillery Steam cost is high or non-availability of low cost steam unlike molasses based distillery Non availability of bagasse Non availability of biogas All the above factors will lead to high steam cost resulting in high cost for evaporator operations.

The Solution for Molasses Based Distillery 1. CONTINUOUS PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT High Pressure-RO 2. COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS ROSERVE our pay per use concept

1. PT(HP)-RO! High Pressure 75, 90, 120 & 225 Bar RO Systems

ROCHEM High Pressure-RO Systems PT(HP)-RO An Overview A few advantages of Rochem PT(HP)-RO systems are as follows: 1. Reduction in costs for the thermal systems Rochem PT(HP)-RO system can be applied on existing RO rejects thereby further reducing the final volume of effluent to be treated for disposal. 2. Reduction in steam consumption As HP-RO gives a more concentrated reject at further reduced volumes, the steam consumption is reduced. 3. Lower operating/ treatment cost of HP-RO systems Lesser power requirement & no steam consumption. Treatment costs can be drastically reduced due to absence of need for operating fuel and lower power costs.

ROCHEM High Pressure-RO Systems PT(HP)-RO: An Overview 4. Compact and modular construction of the membrane system The unique design offers versatile features like smaller foot print, ease in handling, replicability and isolation in case of fault. 5. No thermal stress Handling higher volumes of RO reject effluents by HP-RO systems is easier and with no frequent mechanical & process failures.

What is ROSERVE? 2. ROSERVE! SERVICE CONCEPT! Customer Buys nothing. Customer defines Service need and scope. Customer only enters into a Service Agreement. ( Min 3 to Max 6 year tenure) Rochem brings to site, best suited Plant & Machinery RO/MEE/Compost/Dryers/Others to meet the Service Need. Client undertakes Civil works ( limited due containerised equipment) Rochem operates the equipment and provides the Customer the Service of Reducing Spentwash volume Customer pays Rochem agreed Service charges per m3 of Volume reduced.

2. ROSERVE! Customer Upfront Capital Investment is NIL (only outflow is security deposit) Customer Pays only for What He Gets. Technology, Performance, Obsolescence, Upgrade ALL RISK OF ROCHEM! Customer can focus Investment into Distillery, rather than ETP!

We have now achieved Overall 70 80% Water Recovery from BMSW..!!
