1. GENERAL INFORMATION 1.1. UCF s Utilities and Energy Services (UES) maintain the campus CHW production and distribution system. These UCF Construction Standards are intended to identify any items that UCF UES finds particularly important in maintaining a consistent and reliable system. These requirements should be integrated into the project using the designer s best professional, while still meeting all Code requirements. 1.2. Chilled water metering (BTU and flow meter) is used to calculate utility billing, savings, demand profiling, and performance monitoring for each building s CHW service entrance(s). Essential to these functions are an accurate, properly selected and installed metering systems. While UCF UES will select and provide the meter, it is the designer and contractor s responsibility to install and integrate the components. 1.3. This information is not related to any CHW systems or sub-metering within a building. 1.4. If a chilled water service or application does not or cannot reflect the information in these standards, please contact UCF Utilities & Energy Services directly for specific requirements. 1.5. For ease of use, this section of the construction standards provides multiple 8.5 x11 details or Figures. These details are used to convey critical information to the designer, track the designers progress and verify the contractor s installation. These details or Figures are provided in the table below and are intended to be incorporated into the construction documents, by the designer, as applicable, after confirming they meet all current Code and design intent requirements. ALL Projects As Applicable CHW - Figure 00, 01, 05A OR 05B CHW - Figure 02, 03, 04, 06, 07, 08 2. DEFINITIONS 2.1. Placeholder for future use. 3. TYPICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1. Please refer to the Chilled Water Metering Responsibility Table in the attached Figures. The table identifies the parties responsible for designing, providing, installing, terminating and verifying the metering equipment. 3.2. All chilled water metering systems installed at the university, main or branch campuses, must adhere to this Standard. The university does not accept substitutes for Chilled Water metering as Onicon is the university standard. (Div 33 UCF) 3.3. All buildings, new or renovated, that are supplied with chilled water shall be metered per these standards. (Div 33 UCF) 4. METER LOCATION 4.1. Placeholder for future use. 3 P a g e

5. PLAN REVIEW AND COORDINATION WITH UCF UES 5.1. Coordination of chilled water service and metering requirements with UCF UES is important for the success of the project. 5.2. At the 50% Construction Document Phase the following shall be shown on plans and reviewed with UCF UES: 5.2.1. Proposed routing of CHW service from campus distribution loop to the building. 5.2.2. Proposed location of meter. 5.2.3. Proposed metering configuration. 5.2.4. Proposed heat rejection into the CHW system, CHW supply temperature, CHW return temperature and volume. 5.2.5. Designer shall submit all included Figures identified by UCF for the service type. Designer shall identify any aspects of the Figure that cannot or will not be provided. 5.2.6. All requested Figures shall be submitted to UCF UES, through UCF s project manager. 5.3. At the 100% Construction Document Phase the following shall be shown on plans and reviewed with UCF UES: 5.3.1. Final routing of CHW service from campus distribution loop to the building. 5.3.2. Final location of BTU and flow meter(s), including horizontal and vertical clearances. 5.3.3. Final heat rejection into the CHW system, CHW supply temperature, CHW return temperature and volume. 5.3.4. Proposed point of connection and integration of the BTU meter to the building level and campus level DDC system. 5.3.5. Proposed source of power for BTU and flow meter. This includes the panel name, circuit number, circuit breaker size and location of electrical panel on the floor plans. 5.3.6. Designer shall submit all included Figures identified by UCF for the service type. Designer shall identify any aspects of the Figure that cannot or will not be provided. 5.3.7. All requested Figures shall be submitted to UCF UES, through UCF s project manager. 4 P a g e
