(in case of high risk non-compliance) Yes No Date(s) of follow up visit: - Assigned auditor: - AUDIT SUMMARY Basic Inputs It was re-confirmed that information provided in the application for LBMA audit. The number of gold supplying counterparties is 49,088 and the average number of deliveries of gold bearing material is around 11,593 per month. 1

Description of the company activities [mandatory for all audits]: The company refines scrapped gold from electric, semiconductor, dentistry, and jewelry industries. And the Refiner produces gold bullion, gold plate and granulated gold. Manual adequacy: It was confirmed that key clauses in LBMA Responsible Gold Guidance are addressed. (Conflict-metal manual, the 3 rd edition, Rev.6, 2016/4/18) Assessment of level of compliance of Refiner s systems, processes, procedures and practices according to the LBMA Responsible Gold Guidance: Step 1: Establish strong Refiner management systems The company has developed the LBMA compliance policy regarding due diligence for supply chain of Gold in compliance with LBMA Responsible Gold Guidance. This policy is published in the company web site available to public, http://www.asahipretec.com/conflictmetal/index.html. The policy provides an overview of the management system governing the due diligence policy for gold supply chain. Trainings for key persons as well as management team are also provided and the policy is communicated all employees related to Au refining process. The refiner has assigned person responsible for the implementation of due diligence, a compliance officer and has implemented internal and external communications. And the senior management commits to maintain this system and provides necessary resources. The refiner uses unique reference numbers to identify incoming / outgoing gold and the traceability was verified during this audit. Documents such as assessment results, receiving / transaction records, monthly inventory check, etc.. are maintained well and record-keeping policy (for 5 years) is clarified in their procedure. The refiner has asked Gold supplying counterparties to commit to and acknowledge in writing compliance with the Refiner s own Gold supply chain policy. The policy has been communicated to all counterparties. The refiner has a communication mechanism (Asahi Hot-lone) that allows employees to voice concerns over the Gold supply chain or any newly identified risk and it allows to be voiced anonymously. Although the mechanism is kept active, no concerns has been raised during this period (2015 Jun. 2016 Jun.) But, some staffs do not well aware this mechanism and previous training did not include about this mechanism. So the Refiner will take corrective action at this time. STEP 2: Identify and assess risk in the supply chain Risk assessment process was established in their Assessment procedure and implemented in each time when the business start with new counterparties. And the also monitors to assess existing counterparties annually. Risk assessment for 100% gold suppliers were conducted during this period and the result showed that there was no high risk category at this moment. The refiner has Supplier master to collect information of all counterparties and to identify them. The information is from reliable and independent sources. At this moment, all suppliers were reviewed and there was no lacking information. But reviewed evidences are not recorded well. So the Refiner will take corrective action at this time. They do not receive mined gold and ASM gold. They receive only recycled gold (industrial scrap, dental scrap and jewelry scrap). Risk assessment reporting and results were presented to the top management. The risk assessment procedures are clearly defined as part of the Compliance Officer s tasks and a member of Senior Management is responsible for approving each new supply chain that is assessed as high risk. And the Senior Management reviews these high risk supply chains on an annual basis in order to determine whether to continue the business relationship. There are documented consequences if the risk assessment reporting tasks are not completed, and it has been communicated to relevant departments and personnel (sales, customer service, shipping/receiving). STEP 3: Design and implement a management strategy to respond to identified risks Risk mitigation strategy is established formally in Refiner s procedure. Senior Management provides support for 2

this strategy and the responsibility to carry out is clarified. At this moment, all counterparties are assessed as low risk level. Therefore improvement strategy that shall be adopted is not needed during this period. If the assessment result show High or Middle risk level, their procedure requires to stop transaction, to stop refining, to obtain more infomation. And they will set improvement timeframe and its perfomance index. Compliance officer has responsibility to check the advancement and to communicate to top management. This procedures are written in their emergency work flow chart. Step 4: Arrange for an independent third-party audit of the supply chain due diligence The Refiner has undergone third-party audits once a year and according to requirements defined in Step 4 and the Audit Guidance document. And the refiner has ensured that these audits are completed within the established timeframes in Step 4. Currently the Refiner is not certified/validated under one of these initiatives(eicc-gesi CFS, RJC CoC). STEP 5: Report on supply chain due diligence The Refiner has published the LBMA Summary Report and their Responsible Supply Chain Policy on http://www.asahipretec.com/conflictmetal/index.html. And the website includes their company details, date of the audit, audit activities and methodology asd audit conclusion for each step of the LBMA Responsible Gold Guidance.
