Pinsent Masons In your favour 01 This brochure is really about you Without clients, we do not exist. Our biased view is that legal services should at all times be wholly focused on meeting clients needs and supporting clients business objectives. We are dedicated to tipping the scales in your favour. Making sure you win whether that s in Court or in your marketplace. Regulatory Tax TMT & Sourcing Other sectors Banking & Restructuring Global Sectors Commercial Retail Public Sector Advanced Manufacturing & Technology Construction Property, Planning & Environment Sport Universities & Higher Education Energy Corporate Projects & Project Finance Real Estate Financial Services Employment Infrastructure Pensions EU & Competition Litigation & International Arbitration Intellectual Property Insurance & Reinsurance Clients are supported by a combination of our capabilities in different legal areas and sector insight.

We guide a diverse range of multi-national clients through transformational change

Pinsent Masons In your favour 03 Helping you achieve transformational change When you need to know whether to press ahead with major change, we ll give you an answer, not a 15-page note. Our lawyers don t need to sit on the fence. They know the answer and they ll tell you. You ll get the best advice on project structuring and procurement to attract the best bids, achieve value for money and ensure your project is delivered on time. We ll give you the edge if you re bidding. Should relationships with your customers, suppliers or business partners not go as well as planned, our litigation & arbitration team is on hand to help you resolve matters and protect your business interests through mediation, arbitration and the Courts. In the minefield that is today s regulatory and tax environment, we re in front of you, assisting you in sorting out the risks from the opportunities. When you re buying, selling or investing, we ll help you finance for growth and create value. This includes introducing you to influential and helpful funders. When you re closing the deal, we ll be fighting your corner with you.

04 In your favour Pinsent Masons Consistency and innovation in your day-to-day business In matters like corporate governance issues and pensions, you can rely on us to get things consistently right. You ll benefit from our accumulated knowledge of your sector and its regulatory environment. When you re looking to save money (who isn t?), we lead the field in cost-cutting innovation. If you have a multi-jurisdictional matter to deal with, you ll benefit from our international reach. We share our sector and market insights with clients on a continuous basis through dialogue, regular reporting, seminars, bespoke in-house training and public courses.

Pinsent Masons In your favour 01 We take great pride in watching your horizons and your sector

01 In your favour Pinsent Masons We use sector insight and experience to help you do business

Pinsent Masons In your favour 07 Local strength, global resource With over 350 partners and more than 1,600 lawyers across the globe, we are organised and resourced to help you, wherever you are in the world. A strategic merger in May 2012 has brought us closer to our clients globally, giving us two centres in the Middle East (Qatar and Dubai) and four in Asia Pacific. It has also strengthened our comprehensive platform in the UK: we now operate in all three UK jurisdictions and have an expanded network of eight UK offices. We plan to open further offices in continental Europe; this, and our close links with other law firms internationally, means that we are well equipped to handle your multijurisdictional matters. In fact, of the 50 or so awards that we have won in the past four years, for everything from innovation to diversity, several have been for our work supporting clients internationally. But it s not just about numbers. It s about focus and organisation too. We ve created a strong and efficient platform for our expanded firm, focused on four global business sectors of Infrastructure; Energy; Advanced Manufacturing & Technology; and Financial Services; and on a number of core industries and markets. We aim to be market leaders in each of these sectors, by applying not only legal know-how but also, crucially, a high level of sector insight to solve your business problems and help you succeed. Sector insight is absolutely central to the way we work, and one of the ways we gain it is by spending time with you. Many of our lawyers spend periods of time embedded within our clients businesses, learning how you do things and discovering new ways to help you achieve your goals. So when you work with us, you work with lawyers with a good head for business as well as a keen legal brain. You ll also be in good company. Over the years we ve teamed up with almost every major bank, with governments around the world and with many of the world s leading multi-national companies. Strong links like these can be invaluable when you re building a team to bring a major deal together.

01 In your favour Pinsent Masons We do what we can to reduce our own impact on the environment we live in

Pinsent Masons In your favour 09 Doing business responsibly For us, doing business responsibly is structured around our relationships with our people, our clients and our local and global communities. We do what we can to reduce our own impact on the environment we live in: we re ISO14001 accredited, carbon neutral and reduce, reuse and recycle wherever possible. Our people are encouraged to give 25 hours a year to voluntary work; we currently contribute over 10,000 hours per year. The focus of our community investment programme, Starfish, is inspiring young lives. In our communities we partner with schools local to our offices in the UK and overseas to find out how we can best help. Clients often get involved too. It s led us to hold workshops and mentor students to improve literacy, numeracy and employability. We ve also been involved in a variety of sports and arts-related activities. Globally we are proud of our partnership with SOS Children s Villages, the largest charity for orphaned and abandoned children, helping approximately 60,000 around the world. We currently support three villages in China, Zambia and India, supporting children s schooling and fundraising for new buildings. Among other projects at home and abroad we provide pro bono legal support for the innovative Horizons Clinic in the Gambia, and are members of the East London Business Alliance which supports regeneration and opportunity for the people of east London. We are delighted to have been accredited by the Business in the Community Big Tick programme, and to have been recognised in the awards for excellence in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. We also became the Business in the Community National Example of Excellence winner (Bank of America Merrill Lynch Education Award) in 2009. We have also been recognised as a Caring Company by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service.

10 In your favour Pinsent Masons Finding and supporting the best people We do everything we can to get hold of the best people at Pinsent Masons. And we work very hard to empower them to be their best. To help achieve this, we mentor students who want to work in law but don t have the connections. As a result of our efforts, we have won awards for diversity and been asked to help our clients with their programmes. We ve been on Stonewall s workplace equality index for four years and we won an award for our work placement diversity initiative last year. We are also one of the founding members of PRIME, a commitment from law firms to provide fair access to quality work experience for young people from less advantaged backgrounds, giving them insight into the range of careers available in the legal profession and potential routes into those careers. Pinsent Masons is committed to investing in the skills and talents of its people, and this is a very important part of our business strategy. We begin by looking at the present and future business objectives of the firm. The Learning team then works closely with the practice and support heads to define performance needs. In a typical year, there will be over 50 different development workshops covering business areas like Business Development, Project Management, Management and Leadership and Business Acumen. In addition to all the development learning we offer, every practice group and support team offers training courses focused on the specific technical requirements of that area. We give our senior leaders Business School training and hold offsite development conferences for our lawyers, which are hard work, but great fun. As an SRA accredited learning provider, all our courses are CPD accredited, making SRA CPD requirements easy to manage. We work hard to eliminate barriers to development. We also allot hours to our people for coaching and so that they can spend time volunteering. It helps them become rounded human beings, learning client management, negotiation and leadership. An emphasis on openness and co-operation runs through the firm. To find out more about how hard we work to hire and develop the best people visit www.pinsentmasons.com
