CENTRIA FORMABOND II Metal Composite Wall System CENTRIA FormaBond II is the only true metal composite panel wall system designed, manufactured and fabricated by a single, reliable national manufacturer and supported by an experienced installer network, ready to install right from the factory. FormaBond is fabricated into lightweight finished panels, complete with dry rout-and-return panel joinery and stiffeners. The FormaBond II Wall System provides high-performance drained and back-ventilated rainscreen design. CENTRIA's patent-pending dry joinery eliminates unsightly wet seals and provides optimum venting to allow wall cavities to dry effectively while prohibiting the entry of rain water, thus reducing the chance of entrapped moisture, material degradation and mold. Expanses of exterior metal cladding require an appearance of flatness that is not demanded of masonry or other building materials. Panel flatness in the CENTRIA FormaBond II metal wall system panel is assured by the combination of composite construction, and the addition of panel stiffeners bonded to the back of the panel when required. CENTRIA FormaBond II panels are available in Kynar 500 or Hylar 5000 polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) finishes, including micas and metallics. PVDF coatings are a significant asset to the building owner. Highly UV resistant and durable in the face chemical and air borne pollution, salt spray and wind-driven sand, PVDF coatings are the Gold Standard of the industry. CENTRIA FormaBond II wall systems are available in over 6 stocked colors, 60 standard colors, and wide selection of custom colors. Consult your local CENTRIA architectural representative for design assistance. Contact CENTRIA, Pittsburgh, PA, (800)759-7474, Email: info@centria.com, www.centria.com for a list of offices. Additional Specifier's' Notes for CENTRIA FormaBond II Composite Wall Panels Substitution Reviews: When reviewing substitution requests for other products for compliance with this specification, CENTRIA recommends particular attention to the following issues: Rainscreen system engineering: Require submittal of sample shop drawings from a similar project to determine whether the quality of the total proposed package meets CENTRIA's standards. Do edge conditions and opening conditions include extruded trim rather than formed metal, metal spline or dry gasketing instead of liquid sealants, secondary framing meeting metal thickness and corrosion resistance requirements, and proper mounting hardware? Quality of high performance finishes: Require submittal of large scale coating samples on the specified substrate to enable comparison of finish quality. Are desired colors and visual effects comparable to CENTRIA's own coating line finishes? Have previous projects with similar coating proven durable? Examination of similar installations: Panel flatness and substrate flatness are important components of overall installation quality. Does the manufacturer/installer meet the CENTRIA's tolerances specified in this Section? Coordination with Drawings: CENTRIA recommends you coordinate the following: Show details of integrated window, wall louver, and sunscreen units specified in other Sections but provided by this Installer and shown on coordinated shop drawings. Show interfaces between panels, panel trim, and integrated units. Show details that allow for moisture penetration into and weeping from the drained and back ventilated cavity behind the CENTRIA rainscreen wall panel system. Show unobstructed path for moisture movement to the exterior, along with moisture barrier and flexible flashings specified in other Sections. Detail edge conditions with extruded trims that protect the panel edges, especially at panel bottom. Show soffits, sills, expansion joints and other components either specified in this Section or referenced from this Section to Related Sections. Page 12 of 12
