Product Description Our surface mounted tactile paving slabs incorporate raised profiles to warn people that they are approaching a change in elevation such as railway platforms, pedestrian crossings, staircase ascent and descent areas and many other applications. Controlled Crossing Point Product Characteristics Extremely robust hard wearing tile No sound or dust pollution Adheres to all standard surfaces High anti skid resistance Aesthetically pleasing Adhesion only application (no heavy duty plant required) Tiles do not crack like concrete Permanent flexibility of tile Easy to cut and fit Outperforms concrete 7 times in wear testing Hazard Warning Corduroy On-street Platform Edge

Technical Data Description: Top finish: Stock colours: Thickness: Chemical resistance: Panel sizes: A system of textured ground surface indicators On-street blister, off-street blister, lozenge and corduroy tiles Buff, red and charcoal 6mm Service temperatures: -40< General use: Surface skid resistance: 61 Hard wearing stone and resin composite. For more information, please call our technical department for advice on 01440 712 722. 400mm x 400mm Standard pedestrian traffic Installation The surface mounted tactile paving system is fixed to the existing footpath or highway surface using colour matched, two part adhesive. No excavation is required. Small surface irregularities can be screed with the adhesive to ensure no cavities are left beneath the tiles. The tiles are easily cut to follow the kerb line or to accommodate ramps and manhole covers. They deform over cambered curved areas. A typical installation can be completed in less than 2 hours with added advantage of reducing disruption to pedestrians. The surface mounted tactile paving system can be laid on both concrete and tarmac surfaces using either standard adhesive or the unique moisture tolerant system.

Off Street Platform Edge A uniquely manufactured acrylic tile designed for use on underground and undercover railway platforms complies with the rigorous requirements laid down by London Underground for surface spread of flame, toxicity and smoke density. These tiles come with an ultra rapid set acrylic adhesive which gives the benefit of reduced platform closure time. This type of system is solvent free, non slumping and adheres to most standard surfaces including concrete, asphalt and steel. Surface Mounted Tactile Paving Railway Platforms Stairs and Escalators Ramps Entrance Doors Available in Buff Corduroy The corduroy surface is to warn visually impaired people of the presence of specific hazards: Steps, Level crossings or the approach to on-street light rapid transit (LRT) platforms. It is also used where a footway joins a shared route. It conveys the message HAZARD, Proceed With Caution. The profile of the corduroy surface comprises rounded bars running transversely across the direction of pedestrian travel. The bars are 6mm (± 0.5mm) high, 20mm wide & paced 50mm from the centre of one bar to the centre of the next. Railway Platforms Stairs and Escalators Ramps Entrance Doors Available in Charcoal and Buff Controlled and Uncontrolled Crossing Points Used to provide a warning and to identify the location of a pedestrian crossing point. The tile is used where vehicular traffic meets pedestrian traffic way or where a lowered kerb is used to provide a crossing point. Red highway blister is used on signalled crossing points and buff at non-signalled crossing points. The parallel blister pattern and the layout of the tiles allows wheelchair users to cross unimpeded and the visually impaired to read the position of a crossing and the direction to proceed. Bus Stops Crossings Traffic Islands Kerbs and Steps Changes of Direction Controlled Uncontrolled

Testing The tiles are made from a hard wearing stone and resin composite and are moulded to create paving which, under normal usage, will last up to seven times longer than the equivalent concrete product. Tests conducted at the Transport Research Laboratory on product conditioned at -40ºC found no measurable loss in height at the end of a scuffing test. They also measured the surface skid resistance at 61, well within the preferred range set by the Joint Mobility Unit of SRV = 50-70. Building Investigation and Testing Services (Redhill) conducted a comparative wear test against a concrete blister slab and found Visul Systems tactile paving had a wear resistance 7 times better than the concrete product.
