General introduction Why choose Bluestar Silicones? Our experience and expertise at your service Bluestar Silicones has been active in the silicone industry for over 60 years. We believe that making quality silicone products begins by carefully listening to our customers and understanding their requirements. We then manufacture the right products, supplying them with customized formulations and unique silicone technology solutions. We also provide them with technical and regulatory support so that they can comply with the highest national and international standards. We create agile innovation Since 1944, we have continuously developed new technologies, processes and solutions to address our customers' needs. In a changing environment, we question the status quo, we generate new ideas and constantly progress, in close cooperation with our customers. Our bonding, sealing and lubrication solutions for Industrial Assembly are designed to create and build technologies that make our lives better and safer 14 Si Combining the best features of minerals and plastics Silicones are different from other organic polymers, and notably plastics, due to the presence of silicon, a semi-mineral element, and their Si-O- bond. The bonds that the silicon creates with the oxygen to form the backbone of macromolecules are exceptionally stable: they are much more difficult to break than carbon-carbon bonds in organic polymers. Silicones, a surprisingly versatile material Silicones have unlimited structural. Silicones have an advantage over natural silica because their silicon carry organic groups that contain carbon. According to the nature of these organic groups, as well as production and formulation conditions, the products obtained are extremely varied: their final texture can be fluid, viscous, pasty, elastomeric or rigid. Stable high-performance polymers This means that silicones outperform most other polymers: their remarkable spreadability combined with outstanding resistance to extreme temperatures, UV rays, IR radiation and a wide range of other environmental factors, place them among the best performing polymers available. 2 2 3

02 Adhesion Primers and Additives 02 The BLUESIL Primer range The Bluestar Silicones Primer range offers a series of surface treatments designed so that Bluestar Silicones elastomers achieve optimal adhesion between different surfaces. Bluestar Silicones Primers are solutions that dry in air, using a siloxane that reacts with atmospheric humidity. Bluestar Silicones means benefits When used with Bluestar Silicones elastomers, our primers optimize RTV adhesion on a wide variety of surfaces: Polar plastics, including polyamide, polycarbonate, ABS, etc. Composite materials, glass fibers, epoxy resins Aluminum Polished or unpolished stainless steel Painted, zinc-plated or chrome-plated steel. To quickly and efficiently develop good surface adhesion, all surfaces must to be clean, dry and free from any contaminants before applying a primer or an RTV. Specially-designed primer solutions to provide the best adhesion on specific substrates Getting the best results Processing is particularly easy since Bluestar Silicones Primers are delivered in ready-to-use formulations. In all cases they must be applied to perfectly clean and dry surfaces. Bluestar Silicones Primers are applied with a dry cloth or a fiber pad in a thin and uniform coat. After application, it is best to allow the required drying time before spreading the elastomer on the primed surface (see table overleaf on the technical data sheet). To avoid any problems with hydrolysis, it is best not to allow the tin of primer to come into contact with ambient humidity by closing the container following each application. 14 15
