Data from 15 secondary clarifier installations showed, on average, 99% of total suspended solids removed from secondary effluent. MRI Hoseless Cable-Vac Sludge Collector can be sized for solids return in secondary and tertiary uses. Primary basin sludge removal is by circular scrapers or chain and flight. Optional custom-fit stainless steel covers control algae growth and minimize odor release.
Increase Solids Removal, Decrease Treatment Costs Proven since 2002, MRI Wastewater Inclined Plate Settlers remove significantly more solids in a smaller footprint than conventional basins, resulting in lower construction costs. Proven Performance in Less Space wastewater applications in municipal and industrial facilities across Asia and in multiple U.S. tertiary clarifiers. MRI's patented design has provided superior clarification for more than a decade in over 90 primary, secondary and tertiary Now, to help meet stringent regulatory requirements, cost-containment, and growing demand, MRI introduces to the U.S. its wastewater-specific designs proven effective in all clarification phases. Space-Saving Design Increases Efficiency Precisely engineered, MRI Wastewater Inclined Plate Settlers provide up to four times more surface settling area, allowing for a smaller basin footprint. Particle settling distance is shortened to only a few inches, rather than several feet as in conventional basins. Installed at a 60 angle, MRI wastewater plates increase settling surface area and reduce basin footprint. As a result, TSS discharge is significantly lower, with rates averaging: <10 mg/l for Secondary <1 mg/l for Tertiary With MRI wastewater plates installed, facilities produce more and higher quality clarified water within the same footprint, yielding increased efficiency and cost savings. Patented Technology for New or Retrofit Custom-built, MRI Wastewater Inclined Plate Settlers offer a high-capacity solution for new or existing basins, which increases performance and reduces costs through: Increased removal of TSS Increased treatment capacity Decreased space and land requirements due to smaller footprint MRI Wastewater Inclined Plate Settlers at Osan City, South Korea. Similar approaches have been used in Europe and Asia for more than 60 years.
Sprayers Elevated water sprayers, mounted above plate settler tops, eliminate scum build up. Covers Optional plate settler and trough covers provide odor control and eliminate algae growth. Effluent Troughs Self-mounted troughs work with flow control deck to provide unidirectional flow off the top of the plates. Illustration shows four plate modules, with two plate modules feeding one trough in the middle. Baffles Rear and front baffles maintain flow-control of non-clarified water and trough-adjacent baffles permit outward flow into effluent troughs, maintaining separation of clarified and non-clarified water. Side Inlet Ports Flow entering across the plates from the side and eight feet below the water surface keeps grease and other floatables outside the plate settlers. Outside the plate settler area grease and floatables are removed with rotating scum pipes. Putting MRI Was Influent enters the clarifier settlers. Flow enters the p emerges through v-notche
V-Notched Flow Control Deck V-notched design provides even distribution, prevents clogging, and allows free-flow of high volumes of wastewater into large effluent troughs. Inclined Plate Settlers Available in 5 to 10 lengths with between-plate spacing customized for primary, secondary and tertiary clarifiers, the 100% stainless steel plates are the smoothest, flattest, strongest plates available. Sludge Collector For secondary and tertiary basins, sludge is removed end-to-end by low profile, low maintenance, computer controlled, MRI Hoseless Cable-Vac. Primary basins use circular scraper or chain and flight. tewater Inclined Plate Settlers into Operation basin through the helical flow diffuser (not shown), which creates a quiet zone beneath the plate lates through side inlet ports and rises up between the plates as solids settle out. Clarified water d flow outlets at the top of each plate and is discharged into effluent troughs. INCLINED PLATE SETTLERS FOR WASTEWATER
Key Features Only from MRI Flow is regulated across each plate and the entire basin, providing the most uniform distribution available. Effective settling area is increased by up to four times so facilities can treat more wastewater without increasing basin size, resulting in cost-savings. Custom-built components allow new and retrofit installations in all clarification phases. 100% stainless steel fabrication provides unsurpassed durability. Innovative Tandem Sludge Collectors Maximize Efficiency Conventional Sludge Collector In conventional sludge collectors, the incoming flow enters at the bottom and continues upward, perpendicular to the internal flow, which is moving laterally toward the center outlet. This causes the two flows to collide at the orifices, disrupting the flow pattern and decreasing sludge removal. MRI s Exclusive Tandem Collectors With MRI s tandem collection design*, the incoming flow enters tangentially to the bottom of each collector, causing the internal flow to travel in a spiral toward the center outlet. As the spiraling flow passes each orifice it is re-energized by the incoming flow. This creates a uniform, organized flow pattern that increases sludge removal and prevents clogging. Trust MRI for Trend-Setting Innovation Built on more than 35 years of experience, over 50 patents, and thousands of installations of advanced treatment equipment, Meurer Research is the designer and leading provider of inclined plate settler technology in the U.S. Since 2002, MRI has installed its successful inclined plate settler technology in tertiary wastewater applications, recently completing the 50 MGD installation for Denver Metro Northern Treatment Plant. MRI s sister company, Meurer Asia, Inc., introduced plate settlers to Asian wastewater treatment in 2002. Currently, Meurer Asia has more than 90 installations of primary, secondary and tertiary clarification in municipal and industrial applications. MEURER RESEARCH INC.
