Zyme-Flow Decon Technology Overview Single step decontamination for refining & petrochemical applications Denholm MacNamee Ltd, as approved exclusive licence holder in the UK for the dynamic range of Zyme-Flow Decon Technology products, are proud to offer the service to our Clients which is recognised as the global standard for complete decontamination in refining and petrochemical applications. In a single step, pyrophoric iron sulphide (FeS), hydrogen sulphide(h 2 S), LEL, and benzene are eliminated or liberated. As impressive as this chemistry is, it is wastewater friendly, near neutral ph and compatible with all metallurgies and process equipment. Zyme-Flow Decon Technology drastically reduces turnaround decontamination times and from single vessel decontamination to full plant shutdowns, our Clients can rely on the power and experience of Zyme-Flow Decon Technology to get the job done quickly, safely, and effectively. The Zyme-Flow Process offers the most complete decontamination solution for refining and petrochemical applications. The patented formulation is highly effective, fast-acting and safe for personnel, plant equipment and the environment. As a result, Zyme-Flow treatment dramatically reduces the time required to prepare equipment for entry while eliminating safety and procedural concerns associated with cleaning, degassing and environmental compliance.
Environmentally Friendly: Zyme-Flow Decon Technology is specifically designed to achieve rapid decontamination without causing harm to people, equipment or the environment. Wastewater friendly, the dynamic family of chemical products are non-toxic, biodegradable, and free of volatile organic compounds; it is not a solvent. With a near neutral ph, Zyme-Flow is compatible with all metallurgies and has a HMIS rating of [0-0-0] for health, flammability and reactivity. Despite its environmental safety credentials, Zyme-Flow technology is a powerful tool in eliminating contaminants and facilitating rapid, safe vessel entry. Wastewater Friendly: Zyme-Flow Decon Technology is dedicated to using the most effective chemistry with minimal impact on wastewater and the environment. This is possible because the hydrocarbons demulsify on their own with minimal residence time. When using Zyme-Flow Decon Technology, there is no need for emulsion breakers or chlorides to allow separation and the chemical constituents are not a concern for reprocessing recovering hydrocarbons. Operator and Plant Safe: Zyme-Flow Decon Technology is safe for personnel, plant equipment and the environment. Non-toxic, non-hazardous and biodegradable, it contains no volatile compounds and has no flammability concerns. Unlike other products, Zyme-Flow does not form toxic byproducts during the decontamination process and does not produce an exothermic reaction with contaminants. 2. Planning, Versatility & Application Planning The DML in-house service provision provides a fully comprehensive pre-project planning service to our Clients. Extensive onsite consultation with refinery personnel and inspection of all equipment and piping leads to the production of a full QHSE package including methods, procedures and drawings of each system all of which ensure a safe and effective decontamination The full Zyme-Flow product range has complete versatility offering ease of application with minimal equipment & manpower requirements and a reduced setup and project implementation time. When coupled with low process wastewater volumes which can be discharged directly to the site WWTP, this has made the Zyme-Flow Decon Technology the method of choice with Clients worldwide for over two decades. Vapour-Phase Decontamination Process As our most frequently used application, the Zyme-Flow Vapour-Phase method provides the quickest possible entry into process equipment. The chemical product is injected directly into steam using the existing lines and is carried throughout the vessels or unit, contacting all surfaces to decontaminate the process equipment. The Zyme-Flow Vapour-Phase process drastically reduces steam out time while eliminating pyrophoric iron sulphide (FeS), benzene, LEL, and H 2 S meeting the most stringent entry level standards. It also reduces the need for costly temporary circulation pumps and minimises the amount of waste generated.
Boil-out Decontamination Process The boil-out process is used most often with horizontal vessels, especially those in which a large volume of sludge is anticipated. In this process, a water layer is added to the vessel, followed by the addition of chemical and steam. The steam provides both agitation and heat, raising the water temperature high enough to allow the resultant vapour to be distributed through the system overheads. On completion of the boil-out, liquids can be drained to the slops system or WWTP and removal of remaining solids is made far simpler and quicker. Circulation Decontamination Process The process for vessel and piping decontamination involves an aqueous solution of Zyme-Flow UN657 that is circulated at a targeted temperature throughout all equipment and piping. This method eliminates H2S, and pyrophoric iron sulphides (FeS) and liberates any LEL and benzene from heavier deposits.
3. Chemical Overview Products to remove hydrogen sulphide, benzene, pyrophorics, hydrocarbons (LEL) and oil: Zyme-Flow UN657 An aqueous based surfactant and enzyme combination that emulsifies and demulsifies hydrocarbons without the use of external emulsion breakers. Oxidises both H 2 S and pyrophoric iron sulphides with versatile application methods. ZYME-OX Z20 Applied where high levels of sulphides need to be oxidised such as packed bed flushes and rinses. Also excellent for water washing vessels in merox units to aid in odour reduction and control due to mercaptans during the ph neutralization flush. REZYD-X Z67 An internal cleaner that dissolves heavy hydrocarbon and polymeric deposits in vessels, heat exchangers, process lines and tanks. Products for innovative tank solutions: Super Tank-Zyme Z21 Excellent for use in tanks for safely treating sour water and pyrophorics especially when de-oiling/ washing is also required. Non-exothermic and versatile in application method and temperature. FastEntry K15 An innovative tank cleaning product that effectively separates paraffinic hydrocarbons, water, and inorganic solids into three distinct phases significantly increasing the ease and speed of final cleaning. K19 The most efficient way to eliminate high levels of hydrogen sulphide and pyrophorics found in sour water tanks. Direct application eliminates the need for batch treatments and mix tanks.
Products to remove hydrogen sulphide, benzene, and pyrophorics plus ammonia mitigation: Zyme-HT Z11 "The Ammonia Breaker " A revolutionary product that rids units of ammonia, neutralises sulphides and pyrophorics and removes residual oil and gas. ZYME-OX Plus Z50 Developed specifically for hydro-treaters to eliminate ammonia, sulphides, pyrophorics, polythionates and thiosulfates from process units.
