The complete production process by a single maker A special feature within the closed manufacturing process is our own hardening shop. Many manufacture bevel gear sets, only a few manufacture good ones - and only one does it without outside help. At Siemens you get everything from a single maker punctually, appropriately and in high quality. The tooth design of your choice is the product of a complete, closed production flow which starts with design and ends with quality control. The production technologies used are grinding, HPG and lapping. Calculation and design We shall design your bevel gear sets to meet your specific needs and to your specifications. The design of the required bevel gears is a major part of a process begun by our customers and brought to perfection at our company. We bring the know-how of an experienced gear manufacturer to the calculation of your components. Our application expertise is the best basis for achieving optimum results. Soft machining The manufacture of each bevel gear set starts with soft machining on modern Klingelnberg Type KNC 40/60, C60U and C100U cutting machines. Hardening As a specialist in industrial gear units, we naturally harden the bevel gear sets in our own workshop. That way the entire production process can be continuously controlled and the material flow optimized. Shot blasting in our shot blasting cubicle ensures not only an attractive appearance but most importantly also the proper preparation of workpieces for the hardening process afterwards. After case hardening, gear teeth are finish-cut on our Klingelnberg bevel gear milling machines, using HPG-S cutters. The results satisfy the highest quality standards. Where particularly stringent demands are made of contact-pattern setting, hard-machining is done on bevel grinding machines. This technology enables tooth crowning to be flexibly adjusted. For the diameter range up to 600mm we can also lap gear teeth. 4

Our seamless quality control process ensures this. Measurement, testing, inspection all designed to make you feel you have acquired a perfect product. 2 Quality management Regular internal quality meetings are a central tool in our quality system for checking and improvement. The result is a self-regulating loop to lastingly maintain the quality of our products. 3 Contact pattern check Gear teeth must pass our internal test procedures objectively and subjectively. Using the latest contact pattern checking equipment, we check and document contact pattern, torsional backlash and mounting dimensions. If required, a single flank test can also be carried out. 4 Temper etch testing Siemens is among the few manufacturers of gear components to carry out temper etch testing in house. Only a fully automated test procedure and well-defined machining processes can ensure consistently high quality. 5 Magnetic particle test / crack detection test The magnetic particle test is done in accordance with DIN 54130. Here the focus is not only on your product but also on stringent, regular checking of the test equipment. 6 Documentation Seamless documentation of the finished gear teeth geometry and of the entire production process for your bevel gear set relieves you and us of any worry about the quality of our gear components. 6 5
