Annual University Club Fair: The Annual University Club Fair is held every year in National Taiwan University. In 2005, there were more than 70 clubs attended in this fair on May 21. We presented the activities of SPIE NTU Student Chapter and attracted many attentions during the event. SPIE NTU Student Chapter received the Award of the Excellent Club and cash NT$ 2,000. as the reward. SPIE grants and scholarships received by Chapter members: Travel Funding: Yuan Hsing Fu, president of SPIE NTU Student Chapter, got the funding for attending SPIE's Optics & Photonics / 50th Annual Meeting in San Diego. SPIE Student Travel Contingency Grant: Tai Chi Chu, vice-president of SPIE NTU Student Chapter, got the grant for attending SPIE's Optics & Photonics / 50th Annual Meeting in San Diego. 3. Attendance in SPIE annual meetings:

Five of our chapter members participated in Optics & Photonics 2005 in San Diego and presented their papers in the conference. Tai Chi Chu had an oral presentation Metallic nanostructures for high-density optical nano-storage [5926-29]. Yuan Hsing Fu had an oral presentation, Plasmonic interactions of metallic nanoparticles with different configurations [5928-29]. Tieh Ming Chang had a poster presentation, Numerically study the method to tune the intensity of the surface plasmon [5928-35]. Min Wei Chen had a poster presentation, Optical properties of two interacting silver nanoparticles [5928-36]. Hung Ji Huang had a poster presentation, Plasmonic resonance of single nano-rod and its dimensional dependence [5928-33]. 4. Attendance in APNFO5: Three of our members attended this conference and one of our members, Hung Ji Huang, a Ph.D student, obtained Nano-Optics Award in the 5th Asia-Pacific Conference on Near-field Optics (APNFO5) in Niigata, Japan (November, 2005). Attendance in Taiwan-Riken Nanotechnology Workshop Eight of our chapter members attended Third Joint Taiwan-Riken Nanotechnology Workshop in Taipei, Taiwan on November 24, 2005. Symposium Photonics / Nano-Science & Technology Laboratory (PNSTL) of National Taiwan University had organized a joint workshop (Taiwan-Japan) 3 rd Symposium on Nanophotonics Science and Technology (SNST3) in Taroko, Hualien, Taiwan during September 13-18, 2005. SPIE NTU Student Chapter is one of the coordinators of SNST3. Eleven of our members have participated in this workshop. There were twenty invited and five contributed talks which are showed as below. The symposium attracted more than 50 participants including 15 speakers from Japan, 10 professors from Taiwan, and 25 students. After the symposium, we had an excursion in the Taroko National Park and visited the most beautiful valleys in Taiwan.
