General Information Company: Northwestern Michigan College Salary Grade: 14 Functional Job Title: Manager of Great Lakes Maritime Continuing Education Effective Date: 12/08/2013 Functional Job Code: MGROFGLMACONTINEDUCA Last Modified Date: 02/15/2018 Exemption Status: Exempt Pricing Method: Internal Position Summary This position is responsible for managing all USCG audits of seminar courses, updating all procedures and developing check off sheets to ensure the Academy does not receive any non-conformities at next audit. This position manages the Great Lakes Maritime Academy Continuing Education (GLMACE) program and coordinates with the GLMA office manager in items pertaining to; scheduling, budgeting, advertising, instructors, revenue/cost projections, and supplies. Makes recommendations for GLMACE seminar development. This position is also responsible for coordination of the development and maintenance of the GLMA simulators and is the direct point of contact with the simulator vendors. The position is also responsible for teaching GLMA deck curriculum. Essential Responsibilities (Critical) Responsible for the development and maintenance of all GLMACE curriculum courses, course files, and audits. (Critical) Coordinates all maintenance activities with the simulator sub-contractors. Assists the faculty with simulation exercise development and troubleshooting. (Critical) Responsible for instructing no less than 16 contact hours annually. Must have the ability to teach GLMA deck curriculum and serve as a STCW qualified assessor. (Critical) Maintain a USCG license with pilotage that would allow sailing on the training ship, with an expectation of sailing annually at an added compensation rate. (Very Important) Work with superintendent, faculty, and staff on 46 CFR program approvals and associated audits. (Very Important) Supervises others in accordance with NMC's policies and applicable laws.
