Englisch Silicate Render KR Silikat-Putz Mineral decorative render, in scraped render structure, for exterior use Properties Decorative, easy structurable facade render silicate based with organic stabilizers for exterior use. High adhesion due to silification with the surface and permeable. System-tested as a topcoat in the Brillux ETIC system. Silicate Render can, if required, be ordered as Protect Quality with film preservation against algae and fungal attack. Field of application For obtaining a decorative, weather-resistant surface on silicifying, mineral exterior substrates, e.g., flat exterior plaster surfaces (compressive strength category CS II - CS IV, compressive strength >2 N/mm²), and in Brillux ETICS Systems. On surfaces with long exposure to dampness (depending on the location and construction, as well as on ETICS) there is a risk of algae or fungal infestation. For these surfaces we recommend using the Protect Quality of Silicate Render (see further details about this under Note). Material description Standard color: 0095 white Mixable in lighter colors in the Brillux color system (paint mixing equipment). Further colors available on request. Base material: Potassium water glass with organic stabilizers Density: Approx. 1.8 to 2,0 g/cm³ Sorts: see table on page 2 Packaging: 0095 white: 25 kg Color system (paint mixing equipment): 25 kg Use Thinning If necessary, depending on the surface porosity and object location slightly with water. Tinting Do not tint. Compatibility Only mixable with similar materials and those specified in this Data Sheet. Application Stir Silicate Render KR thoroughly before use with a powerful stirring device (at least 900 Watts) and right hand spiral stirring bar (render stirring bar). The product should be applied with a stainless steel trowel or with a suitable worm pump. Smooth down the applied Silicate Render to its grain thickness. Depending on the wished structure rub down with the Synthetic Trowel 3791 or the Polyurethane Trowel 3781. To avoid overlapping apply the render wet on wet. For larger areas apply render with more workers. Date: 05.05.2017 Page 1 of 5

Sorts, structure and consumption Type Structure Grain size Consumption 1) Silicate Render KR K2 3631 scraped render finish K 2 approx. 3,4 kg/m² Silicate Render KR K3 3641 scraped render finish K 3 approx. 4,0 kg/m² 1) Determine exact consumption by way of a test application on the object. Application temperature Do not apply if the air and object temperature is below +8 C or higher than +30 C. These temperature limits must be complied with even during the curing time. Tool cleaning Clean tools immediately after use with water. Drying (+20 C, 65 % relative humidity) Surface dry after about 24 hours. Dried through after about 5 days. A minimum drying time of at least 12 hours should be kept between the individual coatings (priming, intermediate coating and render coating). Allow longer drying times at a lower temperature and/or higher air humidity. Storage Cool and frost free. Use material within 12 months. Declaration Water pollution classification Class 1, according to VwVwS. Product-Code BSW40. Comply with the specifications in the current Safety Data Sheet. Coating build-up Substrate preparation The substrate must be capable of being silified, solid, dry, clean, load-bearing and free from efflorescence, sinter layers, separating agents, corrosion promoting components or other compounds affecting intermediate layers. A background moisturizing of the render must be excluded e. g. cracks, connections etc. Check existing coatings for their suitability, load-bearing capacity and adhesive properties. Remove defective and unsuitable coatings thoroughly and dispose of them in accordance with the applicable regulations. Lightly sand and clean smooth, compact substrates. Clean areas infested with fungus or algae thoroughly and treat them with Universal Disinfectant 542*. (* Use biocides safely. Always read labels and product information before use.) Treat replastered areas with a fluorine primer. Allow reinforcement plaster to dry for at least 3 days (at +20 C, 65% rel. humidity) before applying Silicate Render. Apply a prime and/or intermediate coat to the substrate as required. Also see VOB Part C, DIN 18363, Section 3. Page 2 of 5

Substrate Prime coat Intermediate coat 2) 3) Top coat Reinforcement plaster, e.g. in Brillux ETICS 1) Untreated, normal and slightly porous surfaces exterior e.g. exterior plaster Silicate Brush Filler 3639 Silicate Render KR in the desired grain size 4) Very porous surfaces, e.g. external plaster, intact mineral coatings 2x wet on damp Silicate Primer 1803 ELF, thinned 1:1 with water 1) Do not use Silicate Render KR on ETICS Reinforcement Plaster ZF-Granit 3535 or ZF-R 3636. 2) Not required with a white top coat Silicate Render KR (scraped render structure) and with reinforcement plaster with ETICS Powder Adhesive 3550. 3) With colored top coat use Silicate Brush Filler 3639 in conjunction with the tinted render color. 4) When applying an additional colored coat of silicate facade paint, the render coating should already be tinted to a coordinated color shade. Notes Cover surfaces Cover adjacent areas thoroughly, in particular glass, clinker brick and natural stone. Contiguous surfaces On contiguous surfaces only use materials of a production or mix the required amount of materials. New mineral substrates Allow new mineral substrates, particularly plaster surfaces to cure and dry properly (at least 14 days, better 4 weeks) before coating them. Depending on weather conditions and season, the drying process may take even longer. Colored coating ETICS Colored top coats in ETIC systems with a brightness reference value 20 can be realized without any restrictions. If hues with a brightness reference value < 20 are to be used, contact the Brillux consulting service to clarify if the hues are suitable. As "Protect" quality Silicone render comes with preservation and, for this reason, should only be used for exterior applications. The preservatives used and in particular those identified as Protect minimize and delay the risk of algae and fungal attack. If additional preventive protection is required we recommend applying two additional coats using Silicate Finish 1811 as "Protect Quality", for example. Subject to the status of the technology, more durable protection against algae and fungal infestation cannot be guaranteed. Page 3 of 5

Surface shading after drying Because of the chemical bonding process it is likely that the color may change due to weathering and surface shading. This is not a technical or functional defect and does not justify a complaint Equalizing coats for colored designs In the case of colored render coats, a equalizing coat using Silicate Finish 1811 should be applied after allowing for a sufficient drying time (approx. 4 to 5 days, depending on weather). Horizontal surfaces Do not use render coats on horizontal surfaces. Projecting components, e.g. window sills, moldings, crests of walls must be covered properly to prevent dirt stains and penetration of moisture. Further information Follow the instructions on the data sheets of the products used. Characteristically structural grains The additives used in the renders are natural products, which, separated according to render coloring, can be discernible as slightly darker or lighter structural grains. This is a typical character and natural feature of render coats. This is no technical or functional defect and must not give rise to any complaints for this reason. Protection of coating During processing, drying and hardening, the surfaces should be protected against sun impact, strong wind and moisture impact, e.g. by covering them with a tarpaulin.
