WebToPrint Integrated Management System for Internet Printing
Target PuzzleFlow WebToPrint is a comprehensive production system for printing enterprises aiming at obtaining orders by using the Internet. It is not only a specialised internet shop but also a complete system of order processing performed by a print shop. It is equipped with workflow for prepress processing (PuzzleFlow Workflow) and the postpress processes (printing monitoring, bindery, packing and shipment). PuzzleFlow WebToPrint was designed in order to provide automation and standardisation of printing products manufacturing. The material delivered by the customer is immediately verified (preflight) taking into account the technology requirements for each type of product. The documents meeting the specified criteria are accepted and, if needed, automatically amended by the print shop (PDF/X conversion). Operating on the Internet market slightly differs from the standard printing services. Average value of the order is lower but the order volume is higher. As every order needs some preparation it makes costs higher. Situation is even more difficult as the Internet users make their order decission mostly based on price. The only way to success is to optimise the process and to reduce production costs. PuzzleFlow WebToPrint is an excelent choice to solve that problem. It s highly automated and it reduces human involvement to the minimum. Customers can select and define the print product on their own, receive a price quotation from the system that is equipped with price calculation module and supports on-line payments, as well as correction and approval doesn t require operator s attention.
Automation PuzzleFlow WebToPrint has been designed for automation and standarisation of the print products production. Pages delivered by the customer are automaticaly checked against the printing process requirements (preflight). Jobs which match the given criteria are accepted for further processing, automatically corrected and optimised if needed without any human involvement. Implementation of the PuzzleFlow WebToPrint product aims at expanding the portfolio of orders and acquiring clients for standard works which may be connected with each other at the production stage. This means more comprehensive use of machines and people, higher efficiency, increased quality control while cutting own costs. It does not require constant engagement of personnel and reduces the most time consuming activities to the minimum. In PuzzleFlow WebToPrint every stage of the production is automated order placement and payment job acquisition and preflight correcitions and optimiazation imposition (including job ganging) production tracking shipment price verification based on material and service costs
Key features Customised webshop There may be more than one webshop created in the system. Additional virtual webshops may be used to offer particular products to selected groups of users. It may differ with product portfolio, price and even look&feel. The system is being equipped with a template editor, which allows to modify predefined graphic projects according to the user needs. Simple and intuitive user interface allows to create a great project within minutes. Templates are PDF files and may be prepared in common graphic software. PrePress Correction process may start with PDF creation out of other graphic file formats, then geometry corrections are applied if needed what include scaling, rotating, bleed definition according to the order specification. One of the most crucial product parameters is media (paper) definition. That setting drives the whole color conversion process which is based on ICC profiles and a sophisticated color conversion engine. Also rich black and overprint issues are checked and fixed if needed. System can flatten layers, transparencies and create trapping for the best print result. After all conversions are applied the PDF/X compliant document is being created and ready for approval and production. System supports simple one-click approval as well as the complete soft proofing process with color measurement, page versioning and user different roles and privileges. Once the job is approved it goes to production. It may be imposed as a separate job or may be merged with other similar jobs for media saving and print optimisation.
Press & PostPress In PuzzleFlow WebToPrint products are identified by barcodes and job tickets. Due to this the job may be tracked on every production stage starting with plate preparation, through printing and finishing, up to order completion, packing and delivery. Management Dashboard Sales analyses and reports from the production process may significantly support the management dashboard operations. In our solution we provide standard sales analyses and summary reports on the employees work time at the chosen stages of order processing and production. Delivery The system supports entire delivery chain. Once the product is ready, it s being packed, package type and weight are registered. The entire process ends with address label and delivery notes preparation. The system is integrated with local and international shipping service, i.e. UPS, DHL and other may be added on demand.
Benefits Job acquisition. The PuzzleFlow WebToPrint is a method for acquiring orders through the Internet. The system has its WebShop designed especially for print products. A customer may order print based on his design or based on a finished, personalised template. The WebToPrint WebShop may be presented in various ways depending on the various target groups, e.g. other print products, prices, graphic layout for individual customers and other ones for business partners. The material delivered to the print shop is subject to fully automated conversion, optimisation and correction, witch results in meeting the restrictive PDF/X standard requirements. It is possible to perform additional specialist operations one each page separately, taking into account the whole history of amendments. Acceptance. The system prepares material for approval and acceptance and sends applicable notification to the client. Imposition. The system allows for automatic imposition of materials based on print product specifications and press settings. It has an inbuilt optimisation mechanism for use of the printers spreads. If needed, it also enables performance of manual imposition adjustments. JDF standard is used for performing impositions. Production. Each product has its own process chart. Apart from the technical information describing the print product, it also has a unique product ID and bar code. Scanning the bar code at any production workstation allows for immediate location of the product and automatic change of its status. Monitoring all the production workstations simplifies the burden of control. Marketing. The system enables defining promotion activities for the chosen group of print or for the chosen group of clients. It also enables performance of combined sales. Management. Registered prices and changes in stock of materials are taken into account while creating price lists. The process is supported by collective lists, prices simulations and statistics. Integration. Open standards enable integration with external systems. Thanks to the modular architecture, it is possible to adjust the service to the company needs with regards to personalisation of the layout and functional modifications.
